It didn't help. I have to admit, I thought I was going to sneak in to that last spot, oh well.

A deadbeat team sure didn't indirectly help you either. He'll have to be replaced (likely the only opening for next season).

I'd be in for a NCAA pool, though lord knows I haven't paid much attention this year.

Oh, and thinking of going up against the likes of sk8 and Langway in a deep prospect draft makes me cringe. I'd love to do it, absolutely, but that stuff isn't my hobby like it is yours...

Langway...PM me if and when you need someone for another dynasty team or whatever. I missed out whenever you set those up.

Oh, and I forgot to add lowlights: Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Pascale Leclaire. Mother ****ers.
I have Fehr and Lepisto, but I also have a ton of guys graduating from my prospects pool or coming off of IR, so I'll probably have to dump at least one of them in the offseason.

3/20 updates:

Quintin Laing out for the season with a torn spleen after playing in his first NHL game of the season (after missing the last month in the AHL with a knee injury) link

Mike Green: not practicing (no real surprise even without the late in the game possible injury) link

Donald Brashear: day to day

Brent Johnson: LTIR

Chris Clark: LTIR

Shoot, I'm going to have to go drop Quintin from all of my teams now...

I have a dilemma.

I have Cam Ward, MAF, and just picked up Varlamov in my fantasy league. I'm currently in the championship round...and I need to start two of the three tonight. I have a lead in the head to head standings...but it's slim. I could use the padded goaltending stats...so this needs to be right.

Of the three...which two should I start?

I'm entertained by the adds and drops in the attempt to win

But I agree with Langway, go with Ward and MAF.

OT: which poster won the NCAA Bball bracket?

It's funny...I thought the season ended on Sunday (for fantasy purposes) so I had that mad dash to get as many players into the lineup by Sunday, then realized I had more time. So now I'm trying to get more of the players I dropped back. Ha.

What happened to Jeff Shultz after the Rangers series? I haven't seen anything about his injury and I don't remember if he was a healthy scratch after the first round.
Also does anyone think he could lose his spot after training camp to some of the upcoming prospects? Or is he already without a place and fighting to replace Pothier?
Part of a trade perhaps?
Thanks

Tough to say. He was injured during the playoffs, perhaps could have played but clearly not effective at the time.

Possibly could be used in a trade, but I doubt the team gives up on him so soon. More likely he comes into camp with a reasonable lock on a bottom pairing spot, perhaps higher (depends on Alzner's performance I imagine), that he would really only lose if he doesn't perform.

If you own Jeff Schultz in a fantasy league, of any depth, my only comment is:

Hahaha. No I don't play fantasy hockey at all I just figured this was the best place to ask.
It's strange because I remember Tarik posting about Green's, Ovechkin's, and Semin's injuries, but never Shultz. It's like everyone forgot he existed after he got burned for that one Callahan(or Dubinsky?) goal. And I just looked back at the archive and Poti and Fehr are mentioned, still no Shultz.

I dont think he's a lock. I thought Pothier played better than him when he got his chance, plus there's Alzner, Carlson, and maybe Lepisto. Is Shultz still ahead of all them?

He's probably only competing with lefties. Mo is likely as good as gone, Poti is a lock, Alzner is almost a lock. That means Schultz is competing with Erskine for playing time, and really nobody for a roster spot unless Lepisto goes crazy.

Don't forget that the team views him as (at least borderline) top 4. He's at worst going to be a healthy scratch once in awhile as long as he's with the organization.

Ah I didn't think about the righty/lefty factor. That makes sense.

Is Varlamov going to be the starter this year or is it undecided?

Undecided. Boudreau said he'd have to prove himself again in camp, which is what you'd expect.

Any of Varlamov, Theodore, or (long shot most likely) Neuvirth could emerge as the Caps' starter next season.

in a 14 team keeper league would it be too early to take varlamov in the 3rd round o the dispersal draft? it would be the 34th overall pick.
