Bruins shopping for D

Eklund mentioned in today's blog that the Bruins have been talking to the Oilers about aquiring a Dman. What would Boston be offering and who would they be looking at?

Maybe Smid + 3rd

for

Boston 1st in 09?

As a Bruin fan, I would love to get my hands on Smid, but the way Boston's been drafting lately, I'd rather not give up a 1st rounder.

What do the Oilers need?

Boston has a glut of forwards. Schaeffer or Axe and a 2nd close?

Thats the problem with edm. We are pretty deep at all positions. We have about 16 forwards. and 8-9 NHL ready D-men. Not to mention the issue with having 3 goalies on our opening day roster.

imo The Bruins are after a top-4 puckmover. Now. That includes Vis and Sour, but not Smid. I don't see Edmonton being able to move either player at this point.

If we could somehow unload Souray to the Bruins the season would be a success before it even begins

Would Robidas or Trevor Daley fit into the Boston mold?

I dont think Edmonton would have signed Souray to substancial contract if they planned on "unloading" him after 30 games. How about Souray and a 1st for Bergeron?

I think they probably could. Especially Daley, always been impressed with the guy ever since junior. His wheels are unbelievable.

To Boston:
Trevor Daley
2nd in '09

To Dallas:
Phil Kessel

?

Or would Boston want a forward in return for Kessel?

It may be close value wise considering what Kessel's actually done thus far in his career, but for Phil to be traded it would most likely have to be a true #2 young puck-moving defenseman and I don't think Daley projects to be a true #2 defenseman. For Kessel to be traded at this point as he's the only real potential sniper in the organization it would have to be an overpayment and Daley's not really an overpayment.

Boston isn't trading Kessel.

Wings have plenty to offer and need to make some cap space. Take your pick of Lilja, Lebda, Meech or Quincey. They want to hang onto Ericsson, but likely would listen to a good offer. Draft picks or propects playing in NCAA seem to what the Wings are looking for at this point. Take your pcik and make your offers....

Lilja and Meech for Kessel (lol, i wish)

Realistically though, the Wings would probably trade Boston Lilja for a 3rd-rounder at this point.

I think the point is that Daley + 2nd isn't anywhere close to the right price for Kessel.

If Kessel were to get moved, it would be for a proven #2 guy, not a "might be a #2 in 2-3 years" type of guy like Smid (or any of the other guys mentioned).

Does Kessel play center? From the faceoff stats on NHL.com, it looks like he was taking less draws towards the end of the year..

Barker + 1st for Kessel? Given what both have done so far and their potential, I can't see their value being that far apart.

I think Chicago wouldn't mind taking back one of your seemingly superfluous left wingers - Axe or Schaefer, I'm just not too sure about their value.

They'd probably want Niskanen in return for Kessel.

Why would you want to get rid of Robidas. He is going to be fantastic and has an awesome cap hit.

To be honest, I would send Lilja packing for a 7th rounder, but hopefully not to Boston as they are my 2nd favorite team

To BOS
Kaberle

To TOR
Kessel
1st round pick 2010
Schaefer

Boston has lost a couple good picks this year, and i dont think they want their 1st 2 picks to be in the 3rd and 6th rounds, so make it next years 1st.
Imagine Kaberle - Chara on the point on that PP... epic

I really wish Boston trade proposals were not allowed here - every time I see one, I die a little inside.

If Toronto is in it it would look like this

To Boston: Kaberle/Tor 1st. Right now the Leafs are giving away picks with players who have NTC's. Come get em boyz!
