I'd bet on Gainey moving a vet

Not the most original idea for a thread or poll but here goes:

Depth is nice, but I get to wondering if there'll be too many vets sitting around this upcoming season for the team good.

Kosto, Begin, Dandy and Laracque all fill the same roles from a playing perspective. Lapierre with a little more experience and better htting from the wing will likely be an offensively better version of Begin/Kosto.

With Brisebois resigned, Dandy is redundant as a D. BGL is going nowhere, so I can see one of the first three being moved to create a little breathing room around the team and also clear some cap space.

Agree?

I'd just like to see him move Dandeneault. He's the 1 guy we don't really need.

Please Baby Jesus... no more Dandy.

We could use the extra capspace for more options at the deadline.

Same here, I just don't see a use for him. He will end up being more and more unhappy, especailly if he is sat on a regular basis.

Dandy should be moved early. For the rest I think there should be a wait and see posture taken. See how the new additions perform and what kind of chemistry the team can have. Once things are stabilized identify the weakness and then work on fixing it.

I don't consider Dandy and Bouillon as vets. I see them as dead weight...expensive dead weight. (moreso Dandy)

Get rid of them any way you can.

I think he keeps the vets and lets Chipper start in Hamilton.

But that's only if we're healthy out of the gate. And sooner or later we won't be healthy, and Chipper will be back up.

Then as the deadline nears, we'll be able to take a look at how the veterans are performing, how competitive our team is, and how the kids are performing. If the team is disappointing or underperforming, anything we can get for the vets would be a bonus, and calling up the upper-echelon kids would be a fair idea. But now's not the time to be thinking of that.

Dandy's one body too many for this roster. I can't see them carrying 3 bodies on the bench (2 of Kosto/Dandy/Lapierre/Begin plus Brisbois) all season and leaving Chips in the minors too. Depth is good. We're one player over.

Kosto>Begin>>>>>Dandenault

I hope for all the habs fans in the World that Dandenault will not sweat in the centennial jersey.

But then what will Gainey do when his dog gets sick?

I think it's pretty clear, even more from Carbo's statement today, that Dandenault's time is limited.

What about buying his ass out or putting him on waivers?

Dandy, e(5) (just kidding...)
Gainey has too much respect for his players to let them in the stand all season long.

Im guessing that this has already happened. Its clear Dandeneault has no role with this club and im certain he wont be happy being the 14th/15th forward or #8 defenceman. I would be shocked if he is here to start the season.

If Chipchura forces his way onto the roster, then i could see one of Begin or Kostopolous being moved. However my guess is that Chips will be in the AHL this season, and that Begin, Kostopolous, Lapierre and Laraque will share duties on the 4th line. 4 guys for 3 spots means they should each have no problem getting in 60+ games.

He'll move Kovalev.

I really hope he doesn't move Kostopolous. He's our best 4th liner, imo. Although Lappy could pass him this year, I suppose. Laraque is on a totally different measuring system, I just mean that he's not as good a player as Kosto, not less valuable to the team.
