I've played on the PC since '98, just switched to PS3 today with NHL 09. I suck too, getting used to the controls is not easy. It just takes time.

Speaking of the game, which i got today, i started off right way with the Be a Pro mode.

Created my player, and got my debut on the third line of the Philadelphia Phantoms.
I'm playing in authentic mode which means im on the bench as well. So I finally start producing in game 4
and get promoted to the 2nd line. I get a game winner in OT in game 5 and after the game the coach says he has news about my future so I figure a first line promo or a callup by the Flyers.

To my disappointment i got traded to Columbus....
By the way i have it on PS3 so if anyone is setting up a team let me know.

haha wow didnt know there were trades in be a pro... played a couple games, got bumped to second line on the Phantoms, then first line Phantoms, now I'm on the 3rd line with the Flyers, but the lines are wack. they got jeff carter on the fourth line, and my line is me, jim dowd, and upshall. no way of changing the lines myself, so its wack.

im used to nhl 08 on the 360. i got 09 on the ps3, and it feels foreign to me. i might end up just getting it on the 360 also and keep one at home and one at my dorm. but once you master the game, its one of the best games out.

No idea. I plan on getting the 2k version again this year (i liked the demo better than last year). 2k your able to have more than one team in a franchise and I play with a couple people on those.

But, all you have to do is keep on trying. Maybe turn up the skill level to really hard for a few games and then go back down to other other skill level.

from what i've heard, the controls are the same on 360. its supposed to be all new this year, but i didnt play 08, so i don't know.

in any case, i've been unable to score until like the 9th game in...with my pathetic phantoms. now the team's record is at 3-11. it's just tricky to get used to.

Surprising, before i got traded to Columbus, we went 6-0 and were 1st in the conference. I gotta check what they got in return for me, didn't notice at the time.
Not that I was the main reason for their success, but I did have 2 GWG.

I went 3G 1A 4P in 6 GP.
But all those came in the last 3 games, guess they figured they'd trade me while I was on a streak. Apparently Columbus asked for me specifically LOL.

does anyone know if there's a way to update the rosters via EA, without having to manually move players around?

I'm sick of seeing Modry in my top d-pair with Rathje in the 3rd....

Have video games made you so lazy that you can't release a couple of players from the management screen, somebody else has to do it for you?

Rosters are never perfect.

Here's an interesting bug that no one else seems to have:

In dynasty mode, the opposition never changes lines. It's the same 5 guys for 60 minutes.

I'm actually amazed at how annoying I find it. It's very boring playing against the same 5 guys. The only time it changes is on special teams but as soon as it's 5 on 5, it's back to the top line (which also makes the game harder because you're always playing against the top guys).
