My God that's horrible. Obviously you don't want that to happen to anybody, but I really liked Markkanen when he was here as well.

Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Reminiscent of EC's son's death years back. there is no worst nightmare for a parent.
I am sure russian safety regulations are anywhere near as good as ours.
That's just so sad. I can't imagine how I would cope....

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name

Prayers and thoughts with Jussi and his family.

Lord knows I probably couldn't make through this if it were one of my 3 kids.

That's the first thing i thought of when i heard about this.

It's absolutely terrible.

You wish these things wouldn't happen in the world. Such a young kid with their whole life to live and something like this happens, which is no ones fault. It's sad.

As a parent i can't even think about it, its just too horrible.

I just wish Jussi and his family the best.

This is a terrible tragedy. A parent's worst and most grueling nightmare.

But I highly doubt safety regulations have anything to do with it.

Here in the United States I see all kinds of houses and apartments with balconies and odd window placements.

I've been to the UK before, but never paid much attention to the safety of their design and architecture. Exactly what precautions and design stipulations are integrated into the buildings?

Some how I doubt Russia's buildings are much different in terms of safety precautions, than the United States and the UK.

When a kid climbs out on a balcony or window sill, it comes down to two things. A lack of immediate supervision right there and then at that very moment or just a quick action by a quick and nimble (or even clumsy) kid that happened so quickly; no one even had time to move towards him.

As parents (which I am), we all know, all it takes is for us to turn our heads for two seconds or turn our attention away from them for a few seconds and they can get themselves into trouble or hurt.

Kids will do stupid, reckless and dangerous things; if you don't keep an eye on them. By the same token, you can't smother them and handcuff them to a wall.

It's a thin line to walk in permitting them the freedom to have fun and be kids; and keeping a close and diligent eye of supervision on them. You do your best to teach them, warn them of dangers and instruct them. Some will learn quickly. Some....will only learn the hard way.

It's doubtful safety regulations would have prevented this type of accident. Unless they designed and built houses with windows that located five to six feet of the floor. And even then, kids climb.

This was a terrible accident. My condolences and best wishes to Jussi and his family.

I can't imagine the pain and distress they are going through.
