Barring injuries, there are no rookies making the team this year (well outside of Chipchura who still technically counts as a rookie). Let's be realistic people. Pacioretty, Maxwell, Weber, Valentenko...forget about it.
MaxPac and Maxwell were very solid, I was pleasantly surprised with Maxpac's speed - I knew he was a good skater but he has that burst to beat the defender to the outside. Too bad we didn't see his impressive shooting ability this game. I also noticed how fundumentally sound he is all around. But the most impressive prospect of the game - I am talking on the offensive side - was Yannick Weber. I absolutely loved his PP work. This is no give-me-the-puck-and-I-shoot Sheldon - this guy can do it all. Tape to tape passes, good skating, a cannon shot, good vision and moving the puck quickly and smartly were the things he showed tonight. I watched some of his games in OHL and Mem cup on sportsnet and I think he is even better now. Funny that the kid is also trying postion himself as the next Streit, implying he would be fine to take that role of playing 4th line forward and the point on PP. He will surely start the season in Hamilton but if the Habs feel they need help on the point, he could be an option. The downside of that arrangment is that he will not improve his defensive play playing forward.

Lets keep it all in here for preseason games... when the regular season starts we'll need Post Game threads.
why? its easier to get the info if its seperate.
also, if the thread opener(harry) can post the lineups on the 1st post that would be helpful and probably save 50 posts in the thread of posters asking for the lineups. I realise its hard to get before the game but i'm sure it could be added at game time or during.
Plekanec and A. Kostitsyn put on a show but Little Brother merely went along for the ride. I'd like to see Kovalev return to the RW position on that line and Little Brother drop to the third line with Lang and Latendresse.
Maxwell impressed me, Pacioretty less so.
Why does O'Byrne take those penalties?
There were some fast skaters on both teams ... Gerbe, Desharnais, Afenigenov, Plekanec.
White looked as though he's years away from the NHL, if he ever makes it.
Ive only one, Sergei has to wake up! We could finally have a battle for a spot on the top 9 between Max Pac and S.Kost.
You are out of this world if you think that Sergei Kostitsyn will not make this team !! And Max Pacioretty is not even close to be ready for the NHL IMO. The guy needs to play in the AHL to develop and learn more about being a pro. Sergei is a lock for sure like it or not, it's not even a debate.
He made some great passes, skated really fast, played on the PP and PK, made nice plays with his brother, had 2-3 scoring chances and even had an amazing assist on Plekanec's goal. What do you want more ?
This is pre-season games, geez. He is just a little rusty, but he will get the groove going after a few more games, book it. Sergei is a money player, which means, he plays hard when it counts the most. No worries here.
