It'll be a good test for Mitchell tonight as he'll need to keep up with two of our quicker forwards.

Interesting line-up, this will become another long night for me, game begins 01:30 am here in Germany. But have to watch Grabovski, Kulemin, Schenn, Stralman, Frögren, Hagman, Mayers, Pogge after reading this board up and down the whole summer

I'd rather them put Kulemin up with Antro and Grabovski. Kind of a waste to throw him on the third line again. What's the point? We know what Poni can do, he's been playng the same for a while now. Why not see what Kulemin can achieve with actual minutes.

Hagman-Mitchell-Kulemin will be an interesting combination. A much better lineup on paper for this game, I'll be watching in class.

GO LEAFS GO!!!!

I think the idea is to ease Grabovski in first before bringing another rookie in. Say what you will about Poni, he does have chemistry with Antro

Holy crap, the Pens lineup looks insanely solid compared to what we're icing... Should have thrown Kubina in there, too, methinks.

Sure, they do, when playing with Sundin. Anto and Poni alone has never really impressed me much.

Pittsburgh's camp is a little accelerated because they're starting early over in Europe this season. And their full lineup is going to look insanely solid next to anything we can throw out there, regardless.

Good thing we have all of these smart people reminding us on a constant basis how pathetic the Leafs are going to be this season.

Yeah, think happy thoughts. Remember Peter Pan: you just have to believe!

In all seriousness, though, tonight will be a shellacking. Hopefully we somehow pull through (Schenn will have to play godly to contain their offense), but, let's be realistic. They're icing something close to their actual roster, which is much better than our actual roster, and we're icing a half-rookie type deal. Great test for the defensive guys, though, like Frogren, Schenn and Pogge.

They were solid before being paired with Mats. They played a fair bit with Niewy too and it was a solid line for us too.

As was Wellwood between the two of them.

Needless to say ...

Okay, I'll say it anyway...

Poni and Antropov make it easy for the center to do his job because they are so effective defensively.

Schenn/Kaberle and Stralman/Frogren? WICKED! Will Pogge play all 3 tonight or do they want Reimer to get in on some action?

Someone please tell me that lucky Pete McGuire won't be ruining this game tonight.

close to what is rumored to be season starting lines...

tonight:
Antropov - Grabovski - Ponikarovsky
Tlusty - Steen - Blake
Hagman - J. Mitchell - Kulemin

opening night:
Antropov - Grabovski - Ponikarovsky
Tlusty - Steen - Blake
Hagman - Stajan - Kulemin

after 3 weeks:
Antropov - Grabovski - Kulemin
Tlusty - Steen - Blake
Hagman - Stajan - Ponikarovsky

Originally, I had Tlusty and Kulemin flipped, but, either is good with me ...that is if Grabovski lasts and doesnt bust like Suglobov

Frankly, I cannot stand Poni and don't see him as having much upside. As I see it, he's basically hit his ceiling which, while good, is FAR from first line material. Kulemin, Tlusty, etc..., would be more important to try now, really. We already know what we get with Poni and Antro.
