I don't get what the issue is...This guy says he's willing to play in the AHL to prove he's got what it takes... Why are people laughing at the idea?
If Downie and McCarthy can be of use to Detroit, then certainly a guy with as much passion and fire as Claude can be too.
I think he could potentialy be as effective as Jeremy Roenick imo. Good 4th line energy guy.
He wouldn't fit in with our team, but I'm sure a couple of teams could use his services.
I'd definitely like to have this guy as an assistant coach though.
+1
I applaud him for trying, I bet a lot of players would love to make a comeback in the new NHL.
Who knows how he will do? Sign him for Hamilton, if he has kept up his conditioning, I'd hope he make a comeback with us, couldn't be worse than Dandy. It would be epic!
I'd actually be very happy..If Chelios can play..if Roberts can...Im sure Pepe can too..
He'd sure help bring the ultimate pest out of Lapierre/Begin/Kosto..

That's a guy I agree is a good Veteran Presence.
He could be a character coach, I wish him good luck, but I just don't think he has the wheels to follow in today's NHL.
That said, I hope for him that he proves me wrong.
FAST FOWARD TO 42 second mark ....this was him last year at 42 years young. i dunno seems like he still remember his tricks AHL contact id give him a try . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrnKM3Wznrw

I see him exactly like Mike Keane. Loving the game so much that he's sticking in the AHL and helping the kids. Will Lemieux want to spend all year long in the AHL? I'm not sure about that, but he's ready to start in the minors.
He was done 4 years ago. I don't believe he has anything left in the thank 4 years after being done.
haha, he was beyond washed up when he retired. Its time to move on, Claude.
His best bet into the nhl is to try and get on a coaching staff...
He was never wash up IMO, just battered. Maybe is legs have come back and you know what, Chelios did ok at 43. I say give hime a shot in Hamilton and it will not hurt the big club. If he still has gas, and someone get injured call him back.
Just one question. Can he sign a two way deal?

Yeah, he will need to go through the ahl because nobody will give him an nhl contract outright.
Its funny because I expected this report to come out as much as I expected dino ciccarelli to come back or pat verbeek etc... sometimes, the shock value of a report has a comedic value to me.
No, we are not.
There is no room for our young guys in montreal, you think we're gonna sign a guy who was beyond washed up when he retired 5 years ago.
"No one would have ever guessed that it was Claude Lemieux," said 26-year-old right wing Tyler Liebel, a native of Osoyoos, British Columbia.
Liebel, for one, sees no rust on Lemieux, who is one of only eight players in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup with three different teams.
"Unbelievable," Liebel said. "I'm not sure how old he is but he's in absolutely unbelievable shape. And as far as muscles, he's still kept everything."
Lemieux, who in his career never shied away from a fight, a check or even a suspension, hasn't sent anyone to the boards during his workouts with the Sundogs - yet.
"No," Liebel laughed. "It's funny because he's out here and he gives tips to the guys. It's just cool, feeding off a guy that's one of the best playoff players ever in the NHL. It's exciting to see a guy that's played for how many years."
(Lemieux ) If I can join a team with the potential for winning, that will be tremendous.
very interesting, wonder if he gets an AHL deal somewhere. Loved Lemieux , lapeirre could learn much from him. I doubt he makes it or gets signed but i don't doubt his intentions and desire. The guy had the biggest heart on the team. He would do anything to win, he would do anything to get back apparently. Maybe he does get a chance to prove himself in the AHL, i'm rooting for him.
