Would the Canes trade Ron Francis to a playoff team like the Nucks?
(I don't use the word contender, it jinxes us IMO.)
I know Francis IS the Hurricanes organization, but I wonder if he would like one last shot in the playoffs. If he agreed to it, it would be a classy thing for the Canes to do IMO.
Francis would be a great fit for the Nucks. Obviously doesn't move the way he used to, but he's still great on both ends, has 15+ years of experience, and is a class act all around the Nucks could learn from. His salary also expires this year, and retirement is likely.
If he can come to Vancouver... Would a package of prospects and picks do?
I'd offer either
1) Bouck, Umberger, 3rd 05
2) Bouck, 1st 04.
I'm pretty sure Francis stated recently that he doesn't want to move out of Carolina. He's already won 2 cups so he has no motivation to leave his home, even for a playoff run. I highly doubt he is traded.
JR has already said that if Francis wants to be traded he will move him to the team of his choice. So far I haven't heard him express any interest in being moved. I don't think the return on a Francis deal would be important. A draft pick or prospect at most.
