With Beech refusing his demotion to Wilkes-Barre, the Baby Pens needed a 1st line center. Now we can have some competition between Taffe and Zigomanis, with the loser going to WBS and the winner becoming the Pens' 4th line center.

Sure but it doesn't mean it will be that way all year. We'll see what Zigomanis can do.

Except Zigomanis is on a 1-way contract and would have to clear recall waivers. I don't imagine there's a huge demand for him, but who knows.

Well, he got traded for future considerations (ie, nothing), so he doesn't.

This might be a stupid question but other then the NHL Head office, and hell maybe even they don't....

Does anyone follow up on these "Futures"?

Not explicitly, but they usually amount to handshake deals involving waiver claims and the like.

I like the move by the Pens. Good depth guy bringing some PK abilities, faceoffs (what the Pens need), and grit. He would look good with Matt Cook on a line.

Maulin Mike - Welcome to the Burgh, your faceoff ability will sure help out during the Calder Cup playoffs.

It wasn't that long ago that Phoenix sent us Landon Wilson for future considerations, which ended up being $100.

Seems Zigomanis wasn't going to make the Coyotes, he's on a one-way deal...this gets rid of his salary for Phoenix and saves the waiver fee for Pittsburgh.

Zigomanis is a face-off guy who can play PK if needed...considering how often the Penguins actually use the fourth line his FO skills are something that is nice considering Sidney Crosby is the only player on the team who knows how to win them until this. Its good to have for those late game defensive zone face-off situations...rather than keep chugging an exhausted Crosby out there.

I expect the bulk of his ice time to come in the face-off circle to bench variety.

He seems to have a great attitude and is thrilled to be a Penguin. He sure loved practice with all those names out there. I think he will be just fine here. His main goal will be his faceoffs and his 2nd will be his PK ability every now and then. Aslong as he's got a great attitude and can help out the team i have no problem with him. Slow or not, we will probably roll our 4th line for 3 minutes a game.

Biz-Mantis-Godard

Nice tough 4th line.

All 3 players have great attitudes especially Biz who is a real champ and people can learn a few things off of. He knew he was not going to make the NHL Pens defense so he changed things up to a need we will need to have...a fighter. All because he did whatever he could to make the NHL. That's a real winner.
