Coach Wars! Rnd 1: Claude Julien vs Tony Granato

Okay folks, this is Coach Wars! the game where coaches war against other coaches in a battle to the death. Winners from each match will carry over into further rounds until the GM (Grand Master) is announced. Each poll will automatically close after 5 days from the post date.

This is the first match of round 1. Brackets are set up randomly, and have nothing to do with the respective team's finish in the standings. I find this spices it up more, and makes some matches more interesting than they would be otherwise. If you have suggestions for a match, feel free to post it.

Feel free to include non-NHL experience in your arguments for a particular coach. This includes minor-league coaching ability, trophies, etc.

Claude Julien (BOSTON) vs Tony Granato (COLORADO)

Claude Julien recently led Boston to a 94 point campaign, and a berth in the post-season. While going winless against Montreal during the regular season, he took the Habs to the brink of defeat in the playoffs, ultimately losing to Guy Carbonneau in seven games.
Previous Season Record: 41-29-12
Total Record: 162-150-11

Tony Granato begins his second tenure as Avalanche head coach this season, previously leading them from 02 to 04. As coach of the Avs, he had led them to their highest winning percentage, (.647). Currently in the entire NHL, Granato possesses the fifth highest winning percentage (.605).
Previous Season Record: N/A
Total Record: 72-44-17

Rnd 1: Michel Therrien vs Craig MacTavish
Rnd 1: Craig Hartsburg vs Barry Trotz
Rnd 1: Wayne Gretzky vs Denis Savard

umm Granato was a disaster as a coach despite his record. He had an all-star team plus he played selanne on the 4th line, lol.

Once round 1 is out of the way, the more interesting match-ups will surface. I have decided not to include any coach with under 100 NHL games experience, so DeBoer won't be in the tournament.
