So, the NHL.com is announcing the best 1st round picks by number every day, up until the 2013. draft.
They started with #30 today, but take into account that draft with 30 first round pick have happened only from 2001.
Simon Despres has the honor as the best ever #30 first round pick, but second best spot takes (hopefully also next season) Ducks Steckel, who was picked by Kings in 2001 and #3 spot takes Rakell who was picked by Ducks in 2011.
Good to see Rakell getting some attention (well, sort of)
In first round, Ducks have picked only 1 player with #29 overall, and that is Emerson Etem. He could be at least mentioned.
Rakell being an HM at #30 is a bit telling of how poor the quality has been at that pick. He's certainly a promising prospect, but that's a far cry from being a great player. I suspect he will be superior to Steckel, but that's in the future. The same would hold true for Etem at #29.
