Ryan Carter was traded to the Panthers today for Corey Stillman.

I remember when the Ducks first signed Carter out of college...oh man good times

Just caught some highlights of the Leafs/Pens game on NHL on the Fly. Looked like Lupul had a god game. The thing that interests me is that they have Lupul playing on the left wing with Kessel. Didn't we have Perry playing left wing last year because Lupul just could not, at all, under any circumstances, play on the left side? Kinda frustrating, he gave us some good scoring depth when he was used right. Always was a Lupes fan.

Maybe they saw something in McElhinney that no one else did. Either that or they are just trying to weaken a rival.

It sucks that Penner has gone to LA. I didn't want to have to dislike him...

Some thoughts about Penner deal.

-He was traded for Teubert. Who was essentially the 1st round pick compensation for the Penner offer sheet. Sort of like the Pronger-Lupul thing.

-Edmonton gets (essentially) that 1st from the offer sheet and another 1st back? Steal.

-Edmonton gets screwed money-wise. They overpay for 2 years and trade Penner now that he's finally worth his contract?

-Does Lupul still have that house in Newport that he was letting Penner stay in when he was in Anaheim?

-Penner makes out. He gets his money from the deal, he spends a couple years in another place and gets a wife, and now he's back in So Cal.

It should be a very interesting dynamic when the Kings play the Ducks in the stretch run with Penner there up against Getzy and Perry.

Would make a hell of a playoff series too.

Sounds like the wife made out, its a wash for Penner.

I'm pretty sure I heard Penner still has a house down by Newport that he stays at during the off-season, it's apparently fairly close to Perry's house.

Penner is good but he'll always be the one that was last in line to be signed after the Cup run, the one that wasn't drafted, and generally the one that should have stayed a Duck if there was just a bit more wiggle room under the cap.

For a second I thought it was cool that 2 former Ducks were traded for each other, but the I realized it was David McIntyre and not Drew MacIntyre. Bah.

In hindsight on The Wiz and Eminger...

Is anyone else glad we got rid of these two D-men while we could? The Wiz (although playing decently in Montreal), is a bit of nasty player, and has lapses in judgment in defensive situations. Eminger was a bit disappointing considering he was a 1st round pick when he was drafted.

Fowler has made up for both of these departures.
