mcbackup makes 34 saves and shuts down the lightning in his senators debut, including 12 shots from vinny lecav. sens fans want to lose games so some of them are pretty pissed at him.
some great comments from the sens GDT:
"So which goalie do we sign long term, Mr Anderson or MacElHasek?"
"Tampa would have 5 goals with Elliott playing, and the Sens would all be hanging their heads."
"This McBackupdude is supposed to suck. What the hell."
"WHO THE **** IS IN NET? Wow."
"If we can't lose with McTank, what else is there for us? Is Pascal Leclaire still in the org? Maybe we can send his crippled ass in front of the net."
"****ing ****. You guys said Curtis Mc****lihny would be bad. YOU PROMISED."
"Screw Anderson, give me some sweet, sweet, McElhiney."

I think you guys are being a little harsh on McBackup. I know his last 3 games were horrible, but he played pretty well for us before that (except for a few games). The defence should also hold some blame for those last 3 games, along with Teemu, he made some horrible passes that turned into opponent goals. That being said, I fully support the Ducks trading him. We don't have much depth, and McBackup just wasn't getting the job done. Good luck to him where he goes.
Good for McBackup. A fresh start with a new team may have done wonders for his confidence. Plus, he is playing as a backup, which is mentally easier for him that being the starter.

So I guess the Sens will trade him soon? You're right, a back up with no more than two games in a row, that's his max.
So gardiner signed with the leafs tonight... And I feel disgusted. I hate Toronto and the fact that he is with them... But I really want to see him succeed in this league. Honestly with him being in that organization I may have to watch a few of their games...
Apparently he'll make his debut against Crunch on Friday
We could of got a better deal for him, but I'm not that fussed over losing him given the current talent in the system and the coaching staff weren't that high on him compared to Burke
It's tough to see especially knowing that he's starting against the crunch. TBH though, I'm more worried about the org's Fwd prospects. It's good to know there are other good dmen prospects in addition to Sbisa and Fowler.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. Even though we traded Gardiner we have a lot of good prospects in the defensive department. The thing I'm worried about is what's going to happen when the likes of Selänne, Koivu and Blake retires. They're all 35+ and even though we're gonna replace them with quality forwards (at least I hope so), we need to have good prospects to even things out.
I kinda liked Mara. Sure he wasn't the best, but we've had far worse (Eminger, anyone?) and early in the year he worked pretty well with Fowler. Unfortunately with our logjam of defensemen at the time, there was just nowhere for him to play. Glad to see him get some playing time.
