Staal hurt

Per Andrew Gross of The Record:

Quote:
The Rangers landed earlier today in Bern, Switzerland and immediately went to the local rink for what was described as a "pretty good skate" by a team spokesman. One hitch, no Marc Staal on the ice today. The defenseman hurt what is believed to be either his shoulder or arm in yesterday's 4-2 loss to the Devils at Madison Square Garden. No word on his availability for Tuesday's exhibition game against SC Bern.

Well, we saw him take a puck to his hand yesterday. Since this article doesn't provide more specifics, I don't really see the point. Renney could just be resting him to make sure he doesn't aggravate anything

If he is hurt badly, this defense better perform there butts off. Because Staal is by far are best defender. I doubt its anything serious though.

Yeah, his hand is probably pretty sore after taking that hard shot right to the glove. It looked like nothing was broken when he was flexing it on the bench. Hopefully he'll be fine in a day or two.

That sucks. Such is the power of Brian Rolston, I suppose.

More like poor luck on the part of Staal

preseason so rest up young Staal.............

I like the top 4 with Rozi, Redden,Staal and Girardi

Bottom two are not bad with Mara and Kalinen and not sure if it will be Potter getting some time or they may just give it to Fahey to sit around

I cringed when he blocked tha shot in a stupid pre-season game.

Let the stupid devils play like it's game 7. We don't need to prove anything in a scrimmage.

Funny thing is, Staal was the one playing like it was game 7 jumping in front of that laser.

This might be the most annoying excuse on these boards this entire preseason.

"They play like its game 7" "wah"

It's good that Staal wants to play hard and make the sacrifices every game, but sometimes blocking a shot ain't worth it. I'm sure Renney & co. will tell him to ease up on the pre-season shot blocking from now on.

I give Staal credit, but he shouldn't be diving to block shots in presseason. Plus, he timed it badly and was lucky he didn't get hit in the face. I initially closed my eyes on that play.

i doubt that, you dont tell someone that young playing with such intensity to ease up. you have to applaud players that play everygame at the same speed.

I agree...If Staal has a bruise, there is no reason to take a chance of aggravating it in an unnecessary practice. My bet is that he will be fine, and Renney is just taking precautions.

If anything was broken he wouldn't have been on the plane. Not like he's going to magically mend a bone in 7 days.

If Staal actually hurt himself, why did he keep on playing? He is just resting, Jeff. You could stop worrying.

staal has alot of balls to get infront of that shot in a preseason game, there are very few people that even do that in regular season game.

Pretty much agree with the idea that he isn't badly hurt but the coaches and staff feel it would be better for him to heal up.

not to make everyone worry but they may be waiting for the swelling to go down before getting an x-ray...
