Only in a fantasy world do the Sabres finish ahead of the Pens.

The Pens lost a lot of size and toughness. They're also going to be missing Whitney and Gonchar for a while. I realize that having Crosby healthy all season long will help, but I see them dropping in the standings.

Well they're starting the season without Gonchar and Whitney with no real defensive depth to speak of, so that's not good. A few longterm injuries to Crosby and Malkin and they'll be contending with the Islanders.

The track record of stanley cup runner ups speaks for itself. Add to that their 2 top d-men out for an extended period of time and a tough divisional schedule. I don't think we're a better team, i just think the pens are going to struggle early on.

On paper, the pens beat the Sabres.

In the real world, not fantasy, no one knows. That's why these are called predictions.

Disagreeing is one thing. Laughing and mocking someones predictions with no actual argument behind it is another, and I shouldn't even have to have point out how much of a dick move that is.

i'm trying to not go by what the pre-season has show us so far, b/c as we learned last year that is not a good indicator. this team looked awesome in the pre-season last year and look where they finished. that said I still think they finish with the #7 or 8 spot.

I'm on the same wavelength. Miller had a bad year and our defense sucked. Our offense had growing pains to get through after the loss of 48 and 23. I'm sure this is slightly naive, but I feel that a lot of these issues were resolved over the course of the offseason and through last year. Not making the playoffs last year should make the team hungry this year, unlike the two years previous where we made the ECFs.

I'm thinking 5-9.
