Even better, no one claimed him afterwards. He got on the bus by error.
You were selling mescaline at the age of four???

Who the hell would their fans be. People in Northern NY and the Toronto area are already big hockey fans with teams they are fanatics over, tis not like moving a team to Vegas where it would create new fans. This is retarded.

Just curious as to why you think it wouldn't work. Do you know how many people live in the greater Toronto area?

They would have fans. Toronto is very corporate...it's not as retarded as you might think.

Toronto is not a hockey town. It's a Leafs town. Pure and simple.

Like when the NHL expanded to Phoenix, Nashville, Miami, Tampa, etc. to expose new fans to their product?

Another team in Toronto would bring in corporate sponsorship, TV revenue and merchandise sales that franchises like Nashville and Florida don't. Toronto is a great hockey market. From a ticket sales standpoint, there's no question they would sell out or be near full capacity. Many of the single game seats at the ACC are bought by corporate sponsors and something similar would probably happen if a new franchise popped up in Toronto. If not, then all those who can't get tickets to see the Leafs will go watch the newbies. Any way you look at it, the ticket sales will be high.

It's definitely an idea they should consider. I'd hate seeing a heavier focus on Toronto, but another franchise there is better for the health of the league than a team in Kansas City, Las Vegas or Phoenix.

Fair enough, I agree. They have shown it a number of times with the lack of support for anything less than the Leafs at the minor league level.

Southern Ontario, for sure...the money is there.

Will is happen, who knows.

What annoys me the most about the Mac ads is their blatantly misleading nature. For the computer illiterate out there (a majority) it flows right by, but they rub me the wrong way every time. Mac certainly has its strong points, but my god...

Anyone else see the irony in the latest ads criticizing Microsoft for spending a lot of money on advertising when Apple is the one making all of these ads? And I don't recall Microsoft ever referring to Apple or making fun of their users in any of their ads.

At this point, it's just getting old, annoying, condescending, and on some levels, insulting. I don't even hesitate to change the channel when they come up. It seems like these ads are trying to make pc users look inferior. I've used both types of computers and while I have no problems with macs, I happen to like using pc's more. Does this make me inferior?
I feel inferior every time I spend a grand less for a PC than I would for a Mac. how do I live with myself?

Don't know anyone there and I have only been there once.

But it doesn't matter.

Yes it's a huge hockey town but I doubt there is a hockey fan there that doesn't have a favorite team. I doubt many Leafs fans will switch over to the new team. It will bring no new fans to the sport. Even if they gather a large following, I doubt the Leafs Management would like this and they do have some clout in the NHL.

That's just what I think, I could be wrong.

I agree. Thats prety much what I said earlier. Its not like an expansion team in a southern city where, although there arent many fans and they arent great fans, they at least draw some new fans to the sport. Another team in toronto would not attract any new fans to the sport and I highly doubt anyone would switch from the leafs to the new team. Even in Philly if a new team popped up in say, south Jersey, they would have a very tough time because Flyers fans are loyal and wont switch to a new team. If you think we like hockey and like the flyers, those people are nuts and their even more nuts about their leafs.

C'mon, you know a few people here from the area! Internet message board pals don't count eh?

While Toronto is a huge hockey market...but more imporantly Leafs town, I personally think it would survive. The City has done a horrible job of supporting AHL/OHL (and other) teams, but at the NHL level, corporate dollars would support it just fine. The idea of two teams playing out of the same rink (ACC) is ridiculous though.

I guess all this talk has been spurred on as the Predators are in financial difficulties...and a local business man (Jim Balsillie) wants them. If I had to guess, this would be for the interim as he/they build a new arena for the said team.

Who knows, it's all just speculation.

You're correct though...the Leafs have say in this, as I think would the Sabres depending on the location of the team.
