That said, its not this year, unless someone gets hurt. We need *more* veteran experience, not less.
I don't know LR, for someone that claims they don't like drama. The part that I bolded begs to differ.

I agreed with your psot until you quoted that horrific song.

Well, I didn't say I could see it next week

I'm talking 5-6 years from now, maybe more. As for MaxiPad hoisting the Cup, I like to believe the Canadiens could win the Stanley Cup every year ever. It's a nice thought

I'm a young journalist who will one day likely get into politics. I prefer to explain myself every opportunity I get (or don't get). That way, when someone says, "LR is an azshole", I know they have a damn good reason for it

It's the right move for his development.

12-15 minutes in the NHL playing on the 3rd line vs 20+ minutes in the AHL playing on the top line in all situations as a key player on the Dogs.

He'd make at least half the teams in the NHL though.

At last a rational explanation for sending Max down!!

The team is too good and management is afraid that replacing an inferior player with Max will put us over the "goodness cap" causing a luxury talent tax to fall on the team.

It's all the fault of the cap. That's what's keeping Begin, Kostopoulos, Dandenault, Chipchura, Lapierre and maybe a couple more guys on the roster ahead of a potential Rookie of the Year candidate.

Back in the 1970s, before the goodness cap, the Habs were able to put 20 year old players like Doug Jarvis directly onto a team that was already a Stanley Cup contender, dropping in the process veterans like Glen Sather and leapfrogging over other young talent like Doug Risebrough, who had to sit out a few games while Jarvis played every night.

But no more.

Goodness cap

lol..you're posts are always interesting LR, so I have no problems with that.

So with all the great prospects this year down in Hamilton. I'm guessing that most of us might be paying a little more attention to the Dawgs this year than normal.

I know i'll defenitly be keeping a close eye on them!!!

I was hoping for this decision all along. I want to see him dominate for a whole year, or part of a year anyways, before throwing him into the big leagues. This kid has made so much progression so fast.

It'll be good for him to go down there and not be under the spotlight in Montreal right away, being criticized by the media for every questionable decision on the ice. Leave the kid alone and let him get a complete game and gain more confidence before calling him back up. Don Lever will turn him into a complete player and you can bet the next time he comes up, he will be even more solid.

Awesome, Gainey said it himself. Good to see there's a conclusion.

Hoping he has an injury-free year and starts learning what it's like to play so many games in a season. It won't be the cakewalk for him the AHL that people are expecting, even if he lights it up PPG style, it's still a hard ride for any young pro to handle the schedule & travel involved (especially coming from college).

Good on him, we can see the decision to turn pro was the right one, now let's see the Dogs go chomp the league this year

edit : AH CRAP ok his comments may or may not have been definitive - ignore this **** for now.

Mr. Frank, sir, I don't know if you noticed, but Doug Jarvis is in MONTREAL, not in Hamilton.

Also, if the plan is to keep Max in Hamilton until the fans and media stop criticizing players, he will be there forever.

Two bad arguments for you, then.

I still say he should stay in Montreal playing in the best league in the world, with the best coaches, the best teammates, the best opponents. Why? Because that's where the best players play, and he is good enough to play here.

Can't wait to see him play in Hamilton. Is Weber's status still in doubt?

Someone please mark the date and time - unanimity on the Habs board regarding a decision on a player's development.

If Bouillon is on the IR, it leaves the organization a choice between sending Weber down in the AHL, sending Chip in the AHL or waiving Dandenault. I just think that they won't be waiving Dandy so I believe that Weber should be sent down 'cause it would be better for him to get some playing time in the AHL while Chipchura might not need this as much.

Ya sorry I actually meant Don Lever ...I was typing fast at work, cut me some slack!

Also, I meant that it would be better that's he not under close scrutiny at HIS AGE. So ya, sorry don't agree with you there "Coach".

No point in playing a kid this good on the 4th line.

I totally agree.

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Kovalev (Max will score 30+)
Tanguay-Koivu-AKost
Higgins-Chipchura-SKost
Latendresse-Lang-Lapierre/Laraque

An unstoppable lineup.

Of course he won't make the team. There's only one spot available on the team and Dandenault will get it because we have some injured defensemans (well, not fully healthy)... and Dandenault played well on defense from what I saw at the training camp. Plus, with the comments we heard about him from the organisation, it's pretty much sure he stays.

As for Chipchura, he will probably also be sent down... and he'll get called up when one of Bégin or Kostpoulous gets traded/waived.
