Preds @ Atlanta - recap

So, we had a game at ATL. Preds Recap

We won 6-4. Rinne played the whole game. Hedberg played 2 periods and Pavelic played the third for Atlanta.

Fiddler, Hamhuis scored to go up 2-0 in the first 6 minutes of the 1st pd.

Atlanta scored 4 goals in the last 7 minutes of the period (2PP, 1SH, 1EV) to lead 4-2 after one period.

No second period scoring.

Tootoo, Legwand, Erat, Ward scored in the third to win 6-4.

Tootoo had 1G (PP), 2A (1 on the PP) and a fight for the Gordie Howe HT. Tootoo, listed at 5'9, fought Valabik, listed at 6'7. According to Pete/Crispy/Callahan Tootoo took him pretty good.

Hornqvist had 8 shots but still no points. 13 shots in the last 2 games, just nothing going in for him.

Joel Ward only played 12 minutes. But in that time he had 2 shots, one goal and was a team high +3.

All in all it did not sound like a very good game (as Crispy said, very sloppy and many bad decisions) but at least this time they were able to regroup and come back and get the win.

After the first period I decided I couldnt waste all night sitting in front of the radio, I later come back to realize I missed a pretty good comeback.

I have been very impressed with Ward. The way he's been playing I can't imagine him not making the team. I know I'd rather have him on the 3rd/4th line over an ortmeyer or smithson.

Well, if he makes the team, it means Peverley, Tootoo or... *shudder* Fiddler *shudder*... is on the second line.

Fyi

Preds losing to Carolina right now 1-0.

The line that is -1 for the game is Tootoo, Legwand, Erat

I'll say 40+ but I'm convinced that Ellis will falter at some point and never get a second chance.

I predict Pekka Rinne will be our starter by the end of the season and excel in that role. Rinne is the future of this franchise in net.

AAAAnd we lose 0-2.

Staal with an EN goal.

Apparently Rinne/Ellis played Very well, and it sounded like it as Ellis got shelled with 17 shots in the third period.

Should I be concerned that Weber only played 4 shifts in the third period of the game Sunday vs CAR. and none after the 10:40 mark? All other Dmen played at least 9 shifts in the third. It just seems that he would be playing more in a 1 goal game.

Also, from the ATL game Friday: Tootoo on fighting 6'7" 230 lb Valabik
Quote:
"You've got to stick up for your teammates,'' the 5-9, 194-pound Tootoo said. "(But) I couldn't reach his face.''
