Pretty much

No player is untradable, but if we were to tell each team what we'd expect in return for EJ, chances are you'd be upset.

If you want a player like this, have a bad year and draft your own

EJ is the best defenseman drafted in this decade so far (yes, better than Phaneuf).

If I were the Oilers, I'd offer:

Gagner, Cogliano, Gilbert, Smid, and a 1st

or if St. Louis is in a win-now mode:

Hemsky and Visnovsky for EJ

Sensing a lot of Blues' fan's threatened anxiety in this thread.

Let's hope EJ can recover from such a serious, career threatening injury. He was on his way to becoming, possibly, the best defenseman in the NHL.

The doc said he will make a full recovery, he is waiting for the swelling to go down before he will go under the knife.

As far as Gagner, Cogliano, Gilbert, Smid, and a 1st. We already gave away Pronger. No way we trade EJ right now. He is the cornerstone d-man we will build around for the future.

I like all of those players, but it's really tough to trade EJ, even for a package such as those. Props to you for making a decent proposal though

What could the Blues get for EJ NOW?

Could a situation arise akin to Belanger & Gleason being exchanged for Jack Johnson (I.e., players who can help a club THIS SEASON as opposed to NEXT SEASON...)???

Preissing and Purcell for EJ. Do it again Deano!

(I'm only kidding, just poking some fun at Canes fans)

And you could build around Gagner and Cogliano. Gilbert and Smid will be solid. Not to mention, subtract Gagner and Cogliano, that 1st round pick will probably be in the top half.

I'm not saying to trade Erik Johnson, but that's a pretty enticing package. If I were STL, I'd try swaping out Gilbert and Smid for some other peices.

Hey, whatever works. Atleast they have something to do now when they miss the playoffs either way.
