Interesting....
I expected him to go to the World Juniors...
I don't expect he'll be going to the Q after the WJC...

Hey KB, of all the guys down in Manchester, who do you feel should or would get the next callup?

the way they're playing, nobody should be called up. if anything, a trip to reading or ontario would be in order.

no "experienced" player is playing the way he should. the "role players" are the ones hustling & trying to make a mark for themselves. call up jon rheault - one of the few who looks like he's even trying.

bernier was a sieve last night - if any one of you folks in LA think that he's ready now, you're sorely mistaken. numbers lie - he's not the best goalie in manchester let alone the system. quick is better, but only marginally so.

to tell the truth, i'd rather have danny taylor here than either of these two. seriously.

Same thoughts here. I don't think I've ever seen the Monarchs put in a worse 60 minutes of hockey - that was pathetic to say the least.

In the first period last night, we were saying bring Danny Taylor back.

I can't imagine how the next 2 games are going to go against Providence but I'll be there cheering on our team.

Monarchs won 5-4 in a shootout last night. Decent 1st period - scored 3 goals early, 2 on the PP, as the Bs had been on the receiving end of a 5 minute major/game misconduct. 2d period was a horror show. Bs came out strong, playing very physical. Monarchs coughed up the 3 goal lead in the 2d & 3d period.

As a team, they still tend to take a period or more off...I can only think of a handful of games so far where they've put together a full 60 minutes of strong hockey.

As a fan who watches a fair amount of the Kings from afar, I'm constantly wondering whether or not it's the players themselves or the "system" that the Kings are trying to implement. There's a ton of talent here, but the Kings can't develop a minor league player to save themselves.

I'm with KB on this - the sooner the Kings bail out of Manchester, the better I'll feel.

It looks like AHL Live is having a free day today. You can watch the Monarchs game at 1pm (PST).

The Monarchs have signed Ryan C. Murphy to a PTO (The same Murpgy that palyed with them in the past) and have released Michel Leveille from his PTO...

Good to see Murph back. He'll add some grit and energy...

Seems like Lewis is showing up more often on the score sheet. How has he been playing this season compared to last? Is he showing enough improvement to think he'll be playing in the NHL in the next year or two?

He's been playing well. He's responding to increased responsibility nicely. I think he's on the NHL bubble at this point...

Boyle hasn't been showing up all that much on the scoresheet. How's he been playing?

Can anyone of the Manchester bunch rate or give grades to the dmen playing in Manchester. I understand they haven't been good, but I'd like to know who is better/worst than the rest and if any have a shot at making the jump in the next couple seasons.
Thanks

The rest

Nothing coming for a couple seasons...

Hope the Kings defensemen stay healthy for the duration...

They're all in LA...

You've seen Boyle and Moulson...

Clune has played in 2-games and is on the IR...

Meckler maybe down the road as a 4th line/utility guy but I doubt he becomes a regular anytime soon...

The Monarchs aren't a very good or deep team Reaper...

The embarrassment of riches that a lot of folks were boasting was going to be Manchester didn't come to fruition this season...

So how would you rate Martinez and Cambell? Both are first yr pros, do either have the basic skills to build upon?

Martinez is a very good skater, not the best defender he's not terrible either. He's about average for the AHL...

Campbell is a project and a half...

campbell reported at a booster club meeting that he's only been playing D for the last 4 or so years. explains a lot. but he's still better than the boyle experiment of last year.

i also think that VV is the best of the bunch - he's just 18 & looks very poised out there. martinez is the next best, which isn't saying much. he's ok.

bagnall is the big body banging around. piskula makes more mistakes than he should at this stage of his career.

I'm surprised that Piskula hasn't done much. If I remember correctly, there were alot of teams trying to sign him.

I don't know about anyone else, and maybe I set too high of expectations, but I'm extremely disappointed in Bernier so far this season.

As you can see by my user name, I'm a huge Bernier fan. I tried to catch all the Lewiston games the past two years online since he became a kings prospect. I had hoped he could handle the AHL better, but I still have hope. Look at the progress Corey Schneider has made from his first AHL season to now. I believe he's the best in the league right now (numbers wise). I hope Bernier can turn it around and do the same thing.

Still think he could become a top 10-15 goalie in the NHL at some point?

I do. You have to remember he's only 20 years old and has only played 19 AHL games total and a handful of NHL games last year. This is his first year pro, he's allowed to find his game, IMO. You can't expect everyone to be Carey Price (and even he struggled last year and got sent down).
