sounds like the Monarchs are battling hard lately. Good for them.

That Schremp story is really crazy. Hopefully that is reviewed and something is done about it.

I'm pretty glad to see that Boyle is doing well in his third line shutdown role. The Bernier storyline as of late has also been pretty encouraging. My hope is that they keep Boyle around for a couple of years to see if he can eventually secede Handzus as the third line center.

Bernier had a shutout streak of about 105 minutes snaped, 1-1

It sounds like he may have figured it out. That's what I like to see. If Boyle figures out how to make the next step we'll all be celebrating.

Bernier has now put up 18-17-3 2.42 .911 for the year. He's had two 4 game winning streaks and he's currently on a 5 game winning streak. He's also had losing streaks of 3, 4 and 5 games.

Such is the life of a 20 year old first year pro. I don't think we can accurately judge how his development is going until he gets through these next 16+ games. One thing is certain, he's getting hot at the best time possible.

I wish the people who keep saying he's a bust would read this. He's a first year pro people, he's going to have his ups and downs.

Yes... Forwards take time, defensemen take a longer time, and goaltenders take MUCH longer - especially in comparison to forwards.

I love, love, love what the Kings are doing with their goaltending development right this very moment.

Quick knows he's got to play lights out to keep his job and he's doing it. He's also got that swagger that reminds me of goalies that have had a lot of success in the NHL.

Ersberg got his new contract but it's short enough that he knows he needs to continue to play well to keep his value high within the organization. It's cheap enough that he can be shipped out for a pick or two whenever the homegrown talent is ready to take over.

Danny Taylor is so fired up about proving his worth he's taking every opportunity as do or die. "Every opportunity in the American League is do or die for me. I know every time I go in I have to win because there are a lot of good goalies in the Kings' system. Every time I go out I've got to prove myself and prove that I'm the go-to guy and I'm the best they have." THAT is a player with a will to win.

Bernier is pissed as hell that he was passed over... AGAIN. Talk about a guy that has the ability to dominate once he gets his head out of his ass. He's got that swagger as well. It's just taking him some time to realize the Kings aren't going to hand him anything on a silver platter, and Danny Taylor is there to push Bernier.

Zatkoff is waiting in the wings in case any of the above falter.

THAT is how you grow and develop goaltending. 41 years and the Kings have finally figured it out.

- T

I know Bernier has had his downs as well as his ups this season, but I like that he is playing his best hockey during this playoff push.

The best players in any sport have that extra gear or level of performance that they can attain whenever it matters most.

This. A thousand times over. Bernier always steps it up when it's gut check time. That is more encouraging than any statistic.

Bag another win for the Monarchs, 4-3 over Worcester. Trevor Lewis with a goal and an assist, Bernier stops 28 of 31 shots.

What the hell is wrong with Preissing? I fully expected him to come in and be a Yanick Lehoux type of player on defense for the Monarchs. He's got the talent to be a game changer at that level, what's the deal?
2 games, no points, 2 pim's and a -1.

Well, it is his first two games at any level in a pretty long time. I expect he'll pick it up shortly. If he doesn't, it'll look an awful lot like he's sulking, which is the worst thing he can do to get back to the NHL.

Regina was eliminated from the playoffs today. Regina's last game is Saturday so expect Teubert to join Manchester shortly thereafter.

Thanks for the update. I bet Teubert can't wait to get out of Regina and showcase his skills at an ahl level.

I wonder if they'll have a free popcorn night when Teubert makes his debut.

Does him joining the monarchs burn a year of his contract?

I'm not positive, but I think he can sign an ATO with Manchester and keep his amateur status.

No, Teubert would have to play 10 NHL games this season to burn up a year of his contract.

Sounds like Teubert could join them... as well as any other junior player (including Moller if Seattle or the Kings are out by the time the Monarchs are in the playoffs)
