DL is at the Monarchs game, wasn't able to listen to his interview after the 2nd intermission. So far they are losing 2-1 in the 3rd about 5 mins left.

Frazee and Zaba have been tough to beat lately, but the next three are very winnable games. The big showdown will be next Sunday when Hershey comes in. Hopefully these tight games they are playing in will lead to a little playoff success.

another home loss for the monarchs - 4-2 to worcester sharks.

with the exception of the last 10 minutes of the 3d, it was a pretty lackluster event...even on mullet night.

Bernier interview on XM Home Ice:

http://ahl.neulion.com/team/console.jsp?catid=3&id=1895

He was interviewed after the recent 4 games in 5 nights stint. He talks about how well the Manchester team has been playing of late, that DL has talked to him about what he needs to do to make it back to the Kings and how very difficult it's been for him mentally since this is the first time in his career he's had to earn a #1 spot with any team.

He mentions that, in retrospect, it was the right decision for his development to be sent down to juniors after his stint in the NHL. He talks about wanting to have a solid training camp this fall to try to win the position with the Kings, but he also realizes that he needs the experience playing pro so Manchester is good experience for him as well.

Teubert to Ontario instead of Manchester

http://communities.canada.com/regina...g-to-echl.aspx
Quote:
The season will indeed continue for Regina Pats defenceman Colten Teubert.
The L.A. Kings have assigned Teubert to their secondary farm team, the Ontario Reign of the East Coast Hockey League (the club is based in Ontario, California, not Ontario, Canada). There apparently wasn't room for Teubert with the Kings’ AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, due to a glut of defencemen.
The Reign sits first in its division with a 35-24-3-2 record and has nine games left before the playoffs.
Teubert is slated to head home to White Rock, B.C., on Tuesday and fly to California on Thursday.

Sam,

I don't know who you are, how you come up with information so fast, or how you keep such detailed records of King's prospects but I appreciate it enormously. Thank you so much for your efforts. I check the scoring stats in the second post of this thread a ton.

Thank you.

Bernier was back to his soft serve ways last night. At least 2 maybe 3 of the 4 goals he gave up were bad. Of course the Monarchs can't seem to score enough so it doesn't help. Boyle sucks!

Just came back from the game tonight. Reign won 3-1. Got to check out Teubert, Zatkoff, and Holloway. Rowat rode the bench.

Teubert- The boy is huge!!! Played top line minutes. Played smart and defensively sound, plays a wonderfully physical and smash mouth game. Made opposing forwards pay for playing along the boards, didn't back out from getting into a bit of smack talk. Was credited with an assist.

Zatkoff- Good glove hand! Played smart and stopped the puck. Deflected shots away well.

Holloway-Play maker. Good speed and good first pass. Played a good game.

Link to a couple of pictures.

This is great news. His problem has been giving up the softies. If he can cut the softies out of his game he will become a tremendous goalie.

Monarchs Report (MARCH 30)

http://kings.nhl.com/team/app/?servi...ticleid=415935

Quote:
LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS
At Lowell (3/24): Goaltender Jonathan Bernier stopped 18 shots for his fourth shutout of the season as the Manchester Monarchs blanked the Lowell Devils, 3-0, at the Tsongas Arena on Tuesday night. Monarchs’ center Justin Azevedo, center Gabe Gauthier and left wing Matt Moulson scored the only three goals of the game. Bernier (20-20-4) picked up his 20th win and fourth shutout of the season stopping all 18 shots from Lowell. Devils’ netminder Jeff Frazee (25-18-5) took his 25th loss of the season stopping 24-of-27 shots. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

At Providence (3/27): The Manchester Monarchs’ comeback came up short in a 3-1 loss to the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Friday night. Monarchs’ left wing Vladimir Dravecky scored the lone goal for Manchester. Center Zach Hamill, defenseman Johnny Boychuk and center Wacey Rabbit scored for the Bruins. Monarchs’ goaltender Jonathan Bernier (20-21-4) took his 21st loss with 30 saves on 32 shots. Bruins’ netminder Tuukka Rask (31-19-3) earned his 31st win of the season with 23 saves. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Providence was 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

At Portland (3/28): Left wing Colin Murphy scored a 1-2-3 natural hat trick to jump start his Portland Pirates to a 5-2 win over the Manchester Monarchs at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday night. Centers Justin Azevedo and Marc-Andre Cliche scored for the Monarchs in their short-lived comeback. Along with Murphy’s hat trick, defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani and left wing Nathan Gerbe lit the lamp for Portland. Monarchs’ goaltender Jonathan Bernier (20- 22-4) took his 22nd loss of the season stopping 21-of-25 shots through two and a half periods of play. Manchester’s netminder Daniel Taylor (7-2-2) replaced Bernier at 6:42 of the third period and stopped 3-of-4 shots. Pirates’ goaltender Jhonas Enroth (22-21-5) earned his 22nd victory of the season with 24 saves. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Portland was 2-for-5 with the man advantage.

I was reading Kevin Provenchers blog, and ran across this great quote by Justin Azevedo:

http://www.unionleader.com/blogs/monarchs/

(Rookie Justin Azevedo, who had a two-point night and was the game’s first star, on teammates getting hit by pucks): “Everybody is sacrificing. Everybody knows what it takes to win. Muzz got one off the chin. Soupy blocked a couple shots off his foot. That’s what you like to see, playoff hockey right there. Guys are stepping in front of shots taking bullets for the team. That’s what we need to win.”

Apparently Andrew Campbell's nick name is Soupy (Cambell's Soup) Sucks for him, but it's hilarious.

Hickey got an assist in the first period of his first AHL game.

Monarchs currently up 1-0 over Lowell after 1 period.

Hey guys,

I followed Justin Azevedo as a Kitchener Ranger and am again just checking out what he's been up to. I see he's pretty much a 0.75 PPG player in the AHL - do you think he has a shot at making the King's top 6?

Not anytime soon, I'm pulling for him, but I don't know yet.

From what I've seen in Kitchener he possesses an incredible amount of hockey sense and is a great playmaker, and has all the technical tools to be a top 6 guy. The only limitation I see is his size. Could he be another St. Louis?
