Power Rankings (TSN 2, SI 3, Yahoo 6 for the Habs)

So Sports Illustrated has the Habs starting the season in third in their power rankings. Detroit and Dallas are ahead.

What's your opinion?

Some the rankings I don't agree with, but it's better than a lot of predictions we've seen in past few years.

Ottawa and Edmonton are too low, Tampa and Dallas are too high...while Toronto is exactly where they should be.

I love my Habs, but I don't understand how we can be rated above the Sharks.

That would just be so nice. As mentioned, I also find the Sens are rated rather low. I guess time will tell and the list will change a lot during the season.

I think the sens are going to finish between 6th and 9th in the east.

their defence isn't impressive (no true PP QB) not much scoring depth after their big 3... (mind you those 3 can combine for 12 pts on any given night)....

and even if they do make the playoffs... geber has never been a money goalie..

I really don't expect big things from them this year... they are not the same team from a couple years ago... just think if Alfredsson or Heatley goes down down for any period of time they are in for a ruff time...

His list is 50% correct imo.

Half of it doesn't make sense in other words.

Also wanted to mention I also think the sens will be a piss poor team this year, I think they'll be 7th to 9th place.

Also, look as his reasoning for Ottawa being 19th... imo it's just a bunch of filler, he doesn't even really pose a real argument other than that line about goaltending which isn't even close to something proven yet.

I honestly think full roster of leafs vs hamilton would be close games, hamilton might even be able to take a 7 game series against the leafs

I love your optimism there, almost implying that the dogs might be 1st at the same time as saying the leafs are going to suck

Wouldn't it be fun to see at the end of each season either:

Stanley Cup Champs versus Calder Cup Champs
Last Place NHL team versus Last Place AHL team
Last Place NHL team versus Calder Cup Champs/First Place AHL Team
Stanley Cup Champs versus Last Place AHL team, etc

So Toronto versus Calder cup champs or First place AHL team, and see who wins

I see them as being in the middle of where you and SI have them.... fighting for a playoff spot but ultimately falling short 9th-11th.... but not down in Atl/Leafs/Isles territory.
