Home opener against the Islanders last year had a pretty good atmosphere, actually. Don't see why it would be any different this year. It'll die off as we get into the season, though.
I don't know what there is in terms pre-game stuff, but check the first post for things to do in the city.
I'm heading to ottawa next month for the habs game on 23rd
I was wondering if anybody had any hotel suggestions near the arena and night life suggestions for after the game maybe?
Hey guys I didn't read through the whole thread but I am going to Montreal-Ottawa on October 23rd. What do you recommend as the best place to stay for a hotel? Also, if I stay at a friends downtown, is there adequate transit to the rink a few hours before game time and how much does it cost? Thanks

There are busses specifically to shuttle people out to the games from all over the city. I'm from the East end so I don't know what number it would be from downtown, but it wouldn't be hard to find.
Price wise it's about $3 bucks, so chump change if you're shelling out for tickets and food/beverage, ect..

Just go to the OC Transpo website and they will have the info on the special busses for games. I believe there's one that leaves from Rideau Centre and Ottawa U.
I wouldn't be able to catch it at that time. It's for work, so i'd have to leave earlier around 2
Oh, getting to SBP by bus is impossible during the day. Take the 96 to Terry fox (~20 minute walk from Centrum to SBP), posters from Kanata should know if a local bus can get you closer but outside of rush hour I don't think you can get closer than Palladium/Terry Fox.
Me and a bunch of crazy (but respectful ) Bruins fans will be there on the 30th. Most of us have seen the Bruins in Ottawa before and all agree it is the best place to see the black and gold on the road. Didn't notice last time if tailgating is permitted in the parking lot. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks!
Looking for opinions on the Coca-Cola section @ SBP from anyone that has attended. Is it too docile and family oriented? I know it is zero alcohol. The beer situation isn't too bad.

I've done it, you should be okay. If you want a beer just chug it before you go back to your seat.
I am going to see the Bruins game on saturday night this is my 3rd time to the Scotiabank place but this time im planning on showing up earlyer and I want to know of a good place to go eat and I will be in town on Friday and I was wondering if it would be too late to reserve a place to eat?
Also it doesnt have to be right at the arena if you have good suggestions of places close to the arena please let me know.
Looking forward to maybe seeing some of you guys there I will be in section 106.
