Official Game Thread: NYR-NYI

Has anything changed? Who the hell knows.

As always, whoever wants to come here to talk about the game tonight is welcome on both sides, but we're looking for hockey, not trolling.

Anyone who has to troll will have their messages deleted and if it continues will have their accounts given a ban. We're looking for quality hockey discussion not members looking to make problems.

Isles fans... you're welcome to participate in the game thread, but don't post stuff that will incite the Ranger fans. If you want to discuss the game and give your opinions on players and the game, please feel free to do so, but just remember which board you're on. Things you could openly and freely say on the Isles board may not get the sort of reaction you're looking for (unless you're looking to tick off Ranger fans-- and if that happens, chances are lots of warnings, edits, deletions of posts, and possible bannings will end up occurring, and it doesn't need to be that way. And I don't want to have to do it).

Likewise, I would ask my fellow Ranger fans not go over to the Islander board and smack-talk or otherwise bait the fans there.

Play nice.

Post 'em if you got 'em.

As much as I want the Rangers to lose games right now, I can never root for, or even slightly push for the Isles win. I hope the Rangers win, but worst comes to worst at least we may get a better draft pick

Well, this will be a memorable 1st game for Renney. He shouldn't have too much trouble extracting some emotional from the group tonight.

Probably our last big game for a while, so we might as well enjoy this one. Dare I say, "Let's go Rangers!"?

Folks, we're in 5th place and tied with the Hurricanes...and only 7 points behind the Hawks and BJs...Every game is important, so dman straight Let's Go Islanders!...But they are no dummies, they want sather to stay, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them get whipped again.

But seriously, intersting to see what happens with the likes of Purinton, Simon, Cairns and Goddard..COuld get real nasty and I don't want Simon, Barnaby or that thug Poti breaking a knuckle in a fight and trashing their trade value..

i have a feeling the piles will win this one. this group is misfits aren't capable of doing anything completely right(such as sweeping a rivalry series.)

the only really interesting thing that will happen in tonights game is waiting for cairns and purinton to be on the ice at the same time, and seeing how simon and barnaby will react.

i bet snow is in net.

I think you'll see DP in the nets tonight. He is the only shot the Isles have of winning a round in the playoffs (Snow and Dunham's #'s are real similar)

I think this game will get real dirty. I just hope nobody gets hurt.

I will venture to say that I while I think Goddard and Cairns will put a hurting on Simon, Barnaby and Purinton (Goddard never loses fights...if he get to play).....you guys will get a win and the season sweep.

I don't know. Now that it has finally been admitted that they are done for the season, I really can't see these players playing any harder than they have before. I could actually seeing them play even more lax...

Godard got smoked by Brash this year, lost to Belak, and lost to Worrell last year. He isn't nearly perfect, but you are right, he is a damn good fighter. Undefeated no.

It will be an interesting game...

can't imagine the Rangers sweeping any team, though...but of course, and too bad for the Isles...they may actually be charged up after the stepping down of the coach, and they may actually win the next 3 which would really perplex Sather. It's just what happens in RangerLand...win a few games, stay in it, then fall apart once again.

Let's see, Isles vs. Rangers, playoff team vs. non-playoff team, crappy team on a crappy ice surface, a team with players who are probably more worried about being traded than a bitter rival. I don't know, I think we're in for a snoozefest tonight.

I agree. Dipietro should be used Tommorrow against the Sabres.

If I'm the Isles I start Dipietro.

One - He's better.

Two - Considering the Isles spot in the standing, and the fact they havent beaten the Rangers makes this a pretty big game for them. Good Experience.

Three - DP has the best chances of winning, and this win could set the Isles off on a bit of a streak.

Don't see the fighting live up to the hype.. Seems like games like this never do..

We'll see if they have a pulse left, but I still can't root for the Isles..

Hoping for this to be the last win of the season...

The way the Rangers acted last game with Simon doing what he did, Cairns feeling like he got suckered and the way that Mess man-handled little Blakey (god I wish our team had his will to win)

I could see this getting ugly early.

Always possible with these two..

Especially if one team jumps out to a 2 or more goal lead

To the Rangers, if you can't at least beat those damn Isles for us, at least beat the crap out of them physically and tire them out for tomorrow.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Buffalo Sabres and their fans

purinton may not even be dressed tonight, if malakhov is ready to come back. i can't see malakhov or tyutin being benched...
