Van - Bos

To Vancouver:
P.J. Axelsson
Matt Lashoff

To Boston:
Alex Edler

Boston needs a d-man and Vancouver has a surplus;Axelsson is Boston's most expendable forward...

Done and Done.

I can't imagine that Vancouver would be too interested in this though.

I like Axe and I think he brings more value to the Bruins than he would get in return in a trade.
But the Bruins have a glut of forwards that should be in the NHL (Noke, Sobotka) or on the starting roster, but can't because there is no room. Moving Axelsson would give some younger guys a chance to contribute.

marc savard for rob davison is more realistic.

I do it in a second. Clears a spot for Sobotka and we upgrade Lashoff. Not too sure why Vancouver does this, though. They need a scoring forward more than a defensive one.

Love Lashoff... but that prop would be better qualified as Way Off

bad trade.... vancouver keeps the core that they have right now.. i dont see them making any more splashes, they may even quit the sundin sweepstakes if their team keeps up this kind of play...

Value-wise it's not bad - but it's not a trade that addresses the Canucks' needs.

3rd line is set for the Canucks (they even have a surplus as Pyatt is really is a 3rd liner) - thus they have no need for Axelsson

A guy who can't bump Andrew Alberts off of the lineup and a 1.85m 4th liner won't get us Edler

it is bad.....We dont need Axelsson....and Edler is very high valued.
This proposal is as bad as it gets.

If Edler was to be in a deal to Boston, we'll add a tad more, but a Savard or Bergeron will have to come back.

And yet you think he's worth Edler.

Kessel is more realistic, unless "tad" means " a lot."

You'd have to add more than 'a tad' to get Bergeron or Savard.

I love Axe... but he's just not needed right now in Vancouver... Burrows-Kesler-Hansen is turning into a very solid line, and 2 of the 3 are already proven in a shutdown role, and have shown great chemistry together...

Edler is to valuable to move for a guy that's going to be hitting UFA status in a year anyways, and a prospect dman that hasn't proven he's anywhere near Edler's upside right now.

If I move Edler, I'd want a young top 6 player who's not close to UFA status, coming back... the only one I can think of in Boston that they might consider moving is Kessel, and I'm not sure if I'd even do that trade 1 for 1, considering how well Edler has developed over the past few years.

Edler's value will only be going up. No reason to trade him now

Meh.... I said the trade didn't serve the Canucks needs - but asset-wise it isn't that far off. I didn't say it was a good trade for the Canucks. It's like offering Cory Schneider to the Habs for "X". Might be good value for the Habs, but they don't have any need for Schneider.

Counter Proposal:

To Boston:
Nolan Baumgartner
Patrick White

To Vancouver:
Phil Kessel

Nucks need a top 6 foward and Boston has a surplus. Plus Nolan Baumgartner is Vancouver's most expendable Dman

So you are comparing PJ Axelsson to Patrick White and Matt Lashoff to Nolan Baumgartner. Yeah - that makes a lot of sense.

It makes it far less likely but if the Bruins called up and said Kessel and a 2nd it's hard to ignore that. Just because we don't see the Bruins often and Kessel hasn't really done much doesn't mean we don't know what he's capable of.

IMO the only thing holding that back from being a possibility on the Canucks side is that Kessel might not fit the piece we're trying to acquire - a RW with size that will create space for our 2nd line.
