Since I have to get up @ 5:30AM during the week I'll probably have to have a nap before the game.

Here we go Bruins, here we go!

Any confirmation on this?
It's on in HD on Rogers NHL Centre Ice in the Toronto area so there is an HD feed available to the Cable Providers.

Let's go BRUINS! I am so pumped. I gotta PVR the start of the game because of the kids' activities tonight, but oh well I will get to see it time delayed!

Does anyone know if Versus is part of the normal Directv shedule?

I just got Directv in August and totally forgot about Versus. I looked it up on the website and see that Versus is available on channel 603 (although it doesn't appear to be an HD channel...yet they have a VSGolf HD channel ). I have the HD Plus DVR package and I'm just hoping when I get home tonight that I have the channel. I've looked all over the website but can't seem to find my actual channel line-up (premium vs. standard channels).

Can any Directv subscribers shed some light?

Swedish fish have no fat in them. Something I learned while I ate them night and day during high school.

The day is finally here... for a few weeks there, I felt like it would never come!

Nothing beats the build-up and anticipation for the first game of the season. It'll be great to see the entire team out on the ice again, especially #37.

From what I recall, the Bruins haven't won their first game of the season in a long time. Time to reverse that.

Great job with the GDT thread Traci!!

Tonight couldn't be more perfect. Grey's Anatomy at 9 and Bruins at 10 means I won't have to miss Grey's. The season is already starting on the right foot!

And for those of us who aren't Grey's fans, a new episode of The Office is on at 9 on NBC!

Good luck tonight. I hope we beat you guys, but I also hope your team makes the playoffs. I was cheering my ass off for you guys to beat Montreal last year.

Question: Is it Tim Thomas' job to lose to Fernandez or will they be platooning?

Not to rain on the parade, but I'm reading the game notes and the Bruins' road opener record is not great. In season openers on the road they are 6-20-5.

So tonight has got to be lucky #7!

Twas opening day, when all through the LF
Not a poster was hatin, not even on a ref.
The GDT was posted by Drury with care,
In hopes that the first W in the win column soon would be there.

All the players were testing the slick Denver ice,
While visions of Stanley Cups made their sleepy-time nice.
And Claude with his chrome dome, and Chia-pet too,
Were forging a team, much tighter than glue.

When from the White North there arose such a clatter,
We all checked the Habs board to see what was the matter.
Away to my laptop I drunkenly stumbled,
"Fire up, pokey hamsters!" I impatiently grumbled.

Many pundits had picked Montreal in the East:
"They're flying! They're scoring!" (they're diving, at least).
Nos Amis have high hopes for their Centennial season,
Saying, "For once, when we riot, we'll all have good reason!"

But as they plan their parade and poutine feast,
They forget that the woods hide a great fearsome beast.
For lurking below in the power ranking list,
The Bruins are waiting and shaking their fist.

Now Savvy! now, Wheels, now Ryder and Big Z!
On Wardo! on Chuckie! on Phil and Sturmie!
Put the puck in the net! The cat in the hat!
Get in on the forecheck and knock those guys flat!

To see our Bruins make a scoring rush,
The bright colors of their jerseys flashing 'gainst the icy mush.
It is, indeed a work of art in motion.
(Plagiarism, you say? Where'd you get that notion?)

So settle you down in your couches and man-caves,
And prepare for a season of hits, goals and saves.
Plate up your tacos, your chili, dogs and chips,
Crack a cold beer, and raise the can to your lips.

And toast this new season, so full of hope
For a team of great guys... no reason to mope!
Though injuries will happen, there's no need for fright.
Sit back and relax, IT'S OPENING NIGHT!
