I got hockey blues

Guys,
the season is starting tomorrow and i should be thrilled but i'm not.
I'm so excited about this year, but at the same time sad.

The last couple of years i've been able to watch atleast 90% of the games either on tv or in person, however this season, i will only be able to watch 10% if i'm lucky.

New job and i'll be working the night shift till 1am and i cant watch it online either.
And while i cant sepnd 600$ for a hd-pvr i was trying to think of an alternate way to tape the game, but then i realise that no matter how hard i try by the time i get home at like 2am, somebody would have spoiled the score ofr me or i would not be able to resist checking the score....

i'm pretty depressed to be honest

Exactly what i was gona say. Or buy a radio and use it if you're allowed. Or else that sucks man. The hockey season started already, even if Habs first game is tomorrow, I'm so happy I'm watching every game tonight. I know the radio might not be as good as TV. But when I'm studying at my university till late nights. I still jump around when I still am pumped while listening. People usually stare at me when i jump and scream when we score, but they get a glance at my jersey and smile... Unless we score too many times and i get on their nerves.

When I work during the game, I make sure all the people I work with know Im a real Canadiens fan and they know not to tell me the score or I'd probably hurt them. You can always do that

I'm in the same situation, i work on the evening and i miss every games in the week. And when come saturday, do you think my girlfirend want to watch hockey? You're right, the answer is no. So when i'm working, i listen the game on ckac or in FM at 98.5, sound is better. Good luck, you will get used to it, radio is better than nothing after all!

Go HABS GO!!!

When I worked at a metal placed a few years ago, i had the same problem.
It sucked, big time.
A couple of times I would be able to avoid the game and watch it when i got home (on tape).

but more often then not, the score would get spoiled.

You gotta remember that we're gonna lose at least 20 games, which are not gonna be worth watching anyways

I've been shy to tell my co-workers that the main reason I took the graveyard position was because I wouldn't miss any games if I did, nobody would get that, I don't even get it. I love me Habs.

Do you work til 1am every night???? I'm sure your not working 7 days a week, correct???

Make sure you have Saturdays off...that will cover a bunch of games, and start switching shifts with co-workers to catch as many games as possible.

Not to sound harsh or anything, but is this really not an option?

There's nothing wrong with working in a call centre (I work with one for the government), but is it really that great of a job that you can't go and find another one?

I have no idea of what type of call centre you work in (you might get real good pay and benefits, etc), but I do know that call centres are always looking for people. Could you not find a comparable call centre to work in that would allow you to work better hours?

(Again, I don't know your situation so I'm just throwing this out there.)

I work overnights, which means leaving the house at 9-9:30 every night. Here's how I solve the problem. I bought a TV tuner for my computer, and I run my cable through my computer.

I record the game onto my computer (perfect quality, each game is like 10 GB but who cares I have a 300GB hard drive...) and watch when I get home in the morning.

I have a similar job to you, I don't work in a call centre but it's a data entry position so I'm wearing headphones listening to music the entire shift, it's impossible for me to find out the result!!!

So a TV tuner will run you anywhere from 75-200 depending on what you want, but to me that's your best bet.
