Man oh man, where the heck is the bottom

Markets are just buzzing passed 40% down on highs. Will we actually see the world's market capitalization be cut in half in a few weeks.

I don't like this.

Such evocative prose.

If the markets keep on plummeting you may cease to be a pant less eccentric, the rest of us may be stripped bare as well.

lol tell me about it. I got out of bed to go for my morning run today and it sounded like my joints needed some oil. The sad thing is, I'm not even 40 yet.

I can understand some of the market mentality i.e. the run on GM (a listless, debt ridden company that is going to face increased borrowing costs going forward) or the devaluation of certain US financial institutions but when RBC drops from $52 per share down to a little over $41 in less than 10 days the market is simply acting out of panic and fear.

Canada's bank that is going to be the more affected is definately CIBC.

They struggle to pay back bonds and are short of cash.

Agreed. Although CIBC did raise from capital earlier in the year, I suspect that they've undervalued the total amount of write downs as a result of their sub-prime exposure.

Nothing new for them though, CIBC is always at the eye of any financial storm that affects the Big 5.

Yeah good point, the current contract I'm working on now is with an oil company. Maybe I can get a deal on a barrel of oil.
