Tallinder+Afinogenov for ???

So, a thought.

To Some team: Tallinder and Afinogenov
To Buffalo: Two way gritty forward. 20-30 goals. Bad (but not horrible) contracts ok. Has to have good wheels, if he can play center and win faceoffs even better. Also need some sort of defensive prospect for the AHL. MUST be a high character/hard worker.

Guys who I am NOT looking for: Handzus.

I would love to have Afino in Boston. I think he and Bergeron would have great chemistry.

Although I'm not sure Boston haves what Buffalo is looking for.

Over in Edmonton we wouldnt have any use for Afinogenov but Tallinder is interesting

How about a base around these players

Tallinder and Gaustad

for

Pisani or Moreau / Smid or Grebeshkov / Matty Roy (for AHL)

I don't think you can say Antropov has good wheels. Quite the opposite in fact.

He's also not exactly gritty, but not soft either.

So probably a big no from Buffalo on that one Jeffy.

I'd probably do that.

I don't think I would do this. Bieksa coming off his injury, and Wellwood being, you know, fat and all...

people really underrate Antropov. He can move pretty quick, and if you ask most people he is pretty gritty. just ask crosby

Sounds like you want Chris Higgins.

Chris Higgins for Maxim Afinogenov and Henrik Tallinder?

Hmm.

Jason Blake.

20-30 goals.
High pace.
Can do faceoffs but not recommended
gritty 2way player
looks to have some leadership.

also you can have kronwall if you need a defender.
im sure we can work out a way for it to be a afinigenov-blake swap without tallinder.

Bieksa had a skate cut his calf in a freak injury and is 100% now.
Wellwood has lost much weight, and if this trade were to go down, I'm sure the Canucks would include the dietary regime they're putting him under so you can keep him under 200

Just a question, is this a "lets see what his value is" type thread or is there any chance of Tallinder being available??

Would absolutly love him. We have no use for Afino, but what would Buffalo want from Edmonton for Hank the Tank??

Nah, 15 goals, 1-dimensional, locker room trouble.

Scott Hartnell?

Pros

Good for 25 goals at least, potentially 30+
Very responsible in both ends
Was the hardest working player night in and night out for the Flyers behind Richards
Sticks up for teammates, likes to do the dirty work
Not a good contract, but not horrible

Cons

Probably not the speed you're looking for but his hustle and work ethic can make up for most of it
Not a center

And how about Nate Guenin? Physical AHL defenseman

The Flyers would have no real interest in Afinogenov so you would have to switch him out with someone/something else.

60 points playing in a ****** team.

has been playing really well in the off season.

How can you call him one dimensional? hes a strong 2way hustler, always gives his all, and is very fast.

He just couldnt score very well last year.

If he rebounds to 20 goals he is EXACTLY what you asked for.

I think Tallinder has VERY high trade value. His name recognition isn't up there with other top pairing defensemen. but the fact remains that he was a shut down defensemen on a deep playoff team. That experience alone increases his trade value far above the common perception.

I think Buffalo could benefit from trading him now with the emergence of Sekera and Weber, as well as the Rivet trade. but we aren't going to give him away.

so far the offers aren't good enough in this thread.

I'd do something around Tallinder for Hartnell assuming Hartnell would accept a trade to Buffalo.

I wonder if Pittsburgh would be interested in Tallinder++++(obviously a lot more would be needed, but a starting point for a deal) for Staal?

Tallinder and Stafford for Staal and a defensive prospect for Portland

on paper, Tallinder for Hartnell smells ok. but it just creates more of a forward log jam.
