Agreed

Although if someone wants to sign for an affordable rate while playoffs are going on I am fine with that (Frolik and Crawford preferable)

Joe Lavin signed (starting next season, of course). Cap hit of $590,000 for 2 seasons.

Cullimore, Exelby, Taffe, and Toivonen called up.

One way deal. Good salary. Looks like he'll be the backup next year.

Great news, and more affordable then I thought he'd be. Plus he's signed for 2 years, hopefully he pans out and can give us 40-60 games over the next 2 years.

WOW! 2 YRS at 600K, OutSTANding. I think this is going to be regarded up there with the Bickell deal. It's pretty clear what Stan is doing. Young players breaking in: Sign cheap and show us what you can do playing for a contender. Do well and get a great contract from us. And they can look to all of our resignings to see he's telling the truth. Love this deal.

That's awesome. I'm excited to see what Salak can do over here.

Now let's fill out the rest of the roster.

As a CEO, his duties are concerning the stockholders. So he has less involvement in the team management aspect. Very good news. Everyone knows this clown knows how to milk a sports franchise; it's when he meddles with the rosters/managers that we've seen issues.

What would your guesses be on what the salary cap will be for next season?

I must admit, I am in utter shock that we were able to move Campbell and his ill-conceived contract, but it seems this trend will continue as the CBA dictates that teams must spend $ 48 at the very least. I loved having Campbell but it would have been (insert word here) to keep him at that salary for the next 5 years, if it could be avoided.

So, the question is: Can teams afford to go to the $ 64 M maximum with the realization that that number could easily go down. The salary cap shuffle is certainly a complex situation and teams will have to keep that in mind before paying out the big bucks. This summer should prove to be quite interesting, with lots of movement from teams playing the salary cap game.

Go down how? A new CBA could change things.

Otherwise:
12-13 Cap is up $2 mil alone due to the new US TV contract. Then you also have the impact of Winnipeg.

Revs would have to fall or a collapse in the Canadian dollar would need to happen. A unforeseen shock to the system is needed for this to happen.

I don't see big differences in the new CBA. They will find what both sides are searching. No lockout, no bad press and good for the NHL and hockey in general

I think you are going to see a change in buyouts and long term contract cap hit determination.

yep. Maybe 1 or 2 other things too. But I don't see major differences. Biggest difference could be that the Cap Hit isn't the average of the money and that would hurt us big time with Keith and Hossa's contracts

It's hard to say. We keep hearing these reports of the small market teams losing 10+ million per year. I suspect there will be quite a few changes, especially now that some of these teams that were already losing money are forced to spend even more this coming season.

If there is some changes to how the caphit is calculated, I am sure there will be a chance to re-structure contracts or they will simply be grandfathered into the new CBA. The capfloor issue is for sure going to be a big issue in the upcoming CBA negotiations.

I'm about positive they'd get grand-fathered in. Those contracts are in place per the current CBA and are legal, I don't think they can legally go back and make them restructure contracts that were legal and good under the previous CBA. Teams just won't be able to do anymore per the new CBA going forward. I gotta think that's how that'd go down.

Can you tell me what will happen during next season and next year with the CBA and the extension?

How long will it take to get a new CBA?
what will be changed?
can we expect a lockout?

Wild sign forward Taffe to one-year, two-way contract.
