Don't listen to these pople, they just make fun of you. There are no planes available in Russia for hockey teams so Amur usually take buses or trains. It takes about 10 days to get to Moscow, that's why they can only play 3 games a month if their schedule is home game followed by a game in Moscow and then by another home game.
I know that Khabarovsk, being by far the most remote team in the league, way out in southeastern Russia, has to travel 3000 km just to reach the next nearest team in the KHL, not to mention the much further distance to visit other teams. That has got to be a major disadvantage -- how do they handle such a travel schedule?
Is it truly practical for the KHL to keep Khabarovsk in the league with such a distance from every other team?
I thinkl they also considered the strengths of the team in division, so they tried to do divisions more even. Riga played two games there in two days so they have sense in scheduling games.
Looking at the schedule Riga started season in Habarovsk, then one game against Novosibirsk and two against Sibir before first home game.

Aside from the KHL being a top league it makes me wonder why they don't join a North American league? It would almost make more sense to play in the ECHL or something rather than playing in the KHL. The other option would be to play in the Asian League, I realize the competition isn't as high, but travel would be lighter.

they actually had a team in the Japanese league I think - Amur Tigers or smth like that, but then they canceled the project.
