It's a real challenge for this team which is still knitting chemistry.

Not to mention that Alfie had a pretty big hand in the victory last year.

I think after giving up 19 giveaways against Toronto, they'll be a little more focused.
I agree with all of that.

I still think we can beat them though.

He also said, re: Spezza's interviews, that Jason needs to "shut up and play" because he hasn't won anything yet. Because self-confidence is the devil, apparently.

Roll up!! roll up!! for the Gerber Swiss cheese sweepstakes!! What will be the time on the clock when he lets in the first goal tonight. I am going to cut him some slack and say 37 seconds on the 2nd shot...

Yea Torts came off sounding like an idiot during that. Even the other talking heads were poking fun at him.

Seriously though.. the Red Wings team is one of the most talented of all time.. Definitely the best since the Avalanche of the olden days.

Just like to point out that this isn't true. Ruutu was near the bottom of the league in 06-07 in penalties drawn/taken ratio. He also took more penalties than he drew last year during the playoffs.

It's the same team that dominated the playoffs and won the cup. They did not lose anyone this off season and added Hossa.

They deserve the hype, they won a cup. It's warranted.

Meh, every year the cup winner is hyped as the guaranteed team to win the cup. Nearly every year that doesnt even come close to happening.

Yup, same very good Detroit team + the best player on the Team they beat (Hossa)(He outplayed everyone on the Pens roster).

Frankly, the only way Detroit doesn't win the cup this year is with an epic meltdown and a choke that goes way beyond even our standards .

Just saw Richardson out there for the pre-game skate..I hope to god he isn't playing over Lee. If you don't trust the guy, then send him down.

Everyone skates in the pregame, don't read too much into that.

History has shown that Cup winners don't tend to have the same type of season the next year for a variety of reasons.

Detroit is a very good team and so is Ottawa. Let's not be dishing out BJ's so hastily.

The thing is Detroit has that proven track record of winning. They might not win the cup this season.

But they are a great team, will win 50 games and be a cup contender. This is a great team regardless if they can win the cup again or not. The talent is there to rip teams apart.

Anaheim last year was without Penner, McDonald, Selanne, and Neidemeyer (Their Conn Smythe and Allstar Thief) for pretty much the whole season..
