As much as people wanted him out of Toronto, you can't help but feel bad for the guy. Hopefully he recovers quickly and is able to continue his career.

wow! the collision looked kinda innocent at best. i thought he twisted an ankle or knee going down, but it never looked violent enough for a broken back ... weird

Looked like a textbook hip check.....I wonder if the area between the kidney guard on the pants and bottom of the shoulder pads had moved up and exposed things a bit because that stuff doesn't happen on hits like that.

Looks like he's fractured at least one vertebrae

Man, that's just horrible luck, hope he can come back from it.

Edit: Didn't see the link

Bryan McCabe is usually a good checker and it looks like he just twisted the wrong way, lets hope he can recover quickly and resume his hockey career.

Damn shame.

Hope he can play again soon. Especially hope it won't impact on his post-playing life.

often times breaking your back means back problems for life...hopefully he can get back soon and resume what was once a very good career...

Oh mane!!! Ouch! Bryan really has that fire and now he may be out for a long while. Well, things tend to happen in this world and thangs just move around. It's like a ball hits sucka in the head and people walk on the streets and some pot might fall off a building and hit those muthas in the head... you know.

I wanted him out of Toronto just as bad as the next guy, but you never want to see a guy go down with an injury. He actually looked good last night until he went down.

Get well soon McCabe!

Here's hoping for a full recovery.

That's the second big-name (well, kinda) player Florida has traded for (Bertuzzi the first) who got injured in the first week and may be out for an extended amount of time. Bad luck.

Florida is turning into a haven for seriously injured players.

Brutal! He's a good guy, I wanted him to do well.

Hopefully he'll come back soon.

*Also, selfishly, I have him on my fantasy team, and was hoping for a good year out of him.

That's some bad news to come up. Hope he recovers well. Never like hearing about that kind of thing happening.

Leafs don't face Florida until Jan 6th, 2009 ..

Lets hope he is back in action by then, as I was really looking forward to watching him on the other team that night.
