However if you bench the kid to long you are going to mess with his confidence and thats not the smartest thing to do with a young player.

But hey i'm sure this isn't the first promising young player your club has destroyed so i'm sure you are used to that game at this point...
He may have kept his burst of speed, but he has lost his endurance. He himself said so a couple times during the preseason. If his word isn't good enough for you, then I don't know what to say...... carry on with your pessimistic ways.

I left Ottawa for the weekend so I don't share your pain, its a good weekend to be back in Leafs Nation I guess.

No just a little bitter, i've seen a few players go over to various NHL-clubs where the are treated less than great. One player i know of was amazing in SEL and signed for NHL as a result only to be treated like dirt more or less (when he wanted to leave they promised him playtime so he stayed...they lied offcourse..)

I just see a few tendencies and i'm scared that Toronto doesn't know how to develop a very promising player the correct way. I mean how many players have you guys actually developed into good players lately (Sundin doesn't count he was already very good when he got traded to you from Quebec)

Okay i buy that but he's probably thinking relative to how much endurance he had before which was enormous (before he left for Toronto he used to be the player who saw the most icetime in SEL overall)

Traditionally been a problem for Toronto, going back to the 80's, yes. It's been better this millennium, and still improving, IMO. I can't imagine they'll allow him to rot in the pressbox very long. If Schenn goes back to the minors, he'll be in.. perhaps he has to spend a bit of time with the Marlies before a trade will open a spot..

Hard to disagree with the thought that Stralman sitting in the bench is not a good thing at the moment. It's not.

I'm one of the biggest Stralman supporters on this board, and I have to admit he appeared very sluggish out there on more than one occasion during the preseason.

I was kind of surprised to see Wilson's system work so well against Detroit... he even said before the season it would probably take until December to get things together, so I suppose tonight is a big test to see how much the players have bought into what Wilson is preaching. Let's burn the Habs tonight folks! the tank can start in game 3!

I just hope we don't play down to our opposition tonight, Montreal are a very overrated team on the boards. I think they will be life and death to make the playoffs actually. I'm looking for our speed to surprise Montreal's defense and our discipline must be very good as the Habs do have a good powerplay lineup. If we play like we did on Thursday we should win this game. I predict 4-2

Oh okay, well hopefully he can improve during the season. But it won't matter if he sits on the bench.
