I'm sorry, Coldplay, but I don't see Huet rebounding enough from that loss to pull off a win in Detroit when we are down 3-1 in the series. It is just WAY too much pressure to overcome.
I hope he makes me eat my words tomorrow night... but I highly doubt he will.

Logically, it makes sense, but other than some claiming your GM was an idiot for signing Huet (and Campbell) in the first place, he got that contract for a reason, and it's time for him to show it.
And yeah, he's put pressure on himself to perform tonight too, geez.
"It'll be a fight for our lives," Huet said. "We want to play better, myself first, and put in the best effort we can. Going in there down 3-1 is a big challenge, but we're taking it one game at a time and we're confident we can win. That'll be our mindset. We'll have to play 60 or more minutes to decide the future. We don't want to look beyond that." Huet got into his first game of this postseason after Khabibulin came up with what the club has described as simply a lower body injury in Game 3.
"There were a lot of things I'd certainly like to improve on and get my game back," Huet said. "There's no room for error tomorrow." Prior to Friday, Huet hadn't played since April 11, when he was in goal for a 4-2 win over the Wings in Detroit in the next-to-the-last game of the regular season. The Hawks' drubbing Sunday was by no means all Huet's fault.
With Nikolai Khabibulin's contract expiring, and the Cristobal Huet showing what kind of a goalie he is tonight, I think it's about time for Teemu to put this thread to rest.
Blackhawkswincup, you may assist me in this historic event of the end of the war...it was a good year, I had fun posting with you guys here. At first it was only Huet for me, but I've grown to love this team, and wish them well for the years to come!

Next up: Huet-Niemi (all such talk here) thread.
Sigh, Huet played amazing tonight but i just dont know what to think of him
Huet is such an enigma. He's a frustrating goalie to watch, because he can stand on his head and make amazing saves one minute, and then let in the easiest shot to save ever two seconds later.
Sometimes he looks amazing (like tonight) and others you wish he was with any team but your own.
He's clearly a very talented player, he just isn't consistent enough. Certainly not the worst guy to have between the pipes though
Coldplay - Huet proved tonight what kind of a goalie he CAN be and I honestly felt bad for him watching him skate to the bench with his head down after the Detroit OT goal...
... now the question becomes can he CONSISTENTLY produce a game like tonight? Instead of performing like he did on Sunday?
He played a really ****** first game cold, then played out of his mind tonight. Yeah, it's inconsistent, but he CAN be a great goalie. He's only a few years removed from posting the league's best GAA.
It seems Hawks fans are quick to forget that Khabibulin was TERRIBLE the few years of his contract (which I might add was for more money when the cap was lower). I know he played behind much ****tier teams, but it's still worth noting. Huet was better this year stastically than Khabby was any of his first three years -- he really only turned it around this year. And even then he was VERY inconsistent in the playoffs.
So, long story short, I won't be too upset to see Khabibulin go. I think Huet will be fine.

I suspect his inconsistency has to do with his conditioning and fatigue level. Sign Conklin to back him up this coming season and Huet should be fine.

I absolutely loved him in Montreal. He had some insane numbers with us and I hope he'll have a great year with you guys. He lets in some awful goals here and there but he's really calm and it doesn't seems to affects him for the rest of the game.
#1) fans of individual players and not the team posting regularly
and
#2) posters that use outrageous hyperbole repeatedly to try to justify their opinion
Coldplay (and now Kovalev47) and BWC, I'm looking at you. I'm not trying to play mini-mod here but I think that this whole feud diminishes the overall level of conversation here and hinders the ability of the rest of us, the people who don't have a dog in the race, to rationally talk about the goaltending situation.
This is an awesome post by Massive. I would say BWC was on the right side of the argument.
