NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

When they got the tying goal, I think we focused again and we started to play.
Then we got the power play goal there, and the last five minutes we were playing great defense again.
That’s how we get points in this league.
- Antti Raanta

It kind of caught me off guard with only 25 seconds left. I knew their goalie wasn't pulled or anything like that.
I didn't really expect it. First one for me in a while. I don't think I had one in the American league ever and first one tonight.
My teammates helped me out a lot getting that one.
- Matt Puempel

The guys executed. We had good net front presence on the PP.
There's no doubt that power play wise, it was a good night for us.
- Alain Vigneault

End the year on a good note and beat these scrubs (they are abyssmal 4-12-1 at home!!) with a score like 7-2 that proves to be a fatal catalyst for a Big makeover in Denver (maybe we can be in on it but I doubt the timing is right for our needs, agenda and assets). 10-5 in December would be good. Not Bluejackets good, but still very good considering our injuries. Pickpocket Pickard

Ok so, Im really excited from a Norway standpoint to watch Martinsen match up against the Rangers. He's a bit of a bull, hits almost harder than anyone in the league.

Their forward group looks really good. That defense with or without EJ... Yikes. Their goaltending? Double yikes.

Replace Girardi with the scraps left from my turkey dinner!

OK now?

Really excited to see Martinsen as a Norwegian too. He's the first player in the NHL from my district - and I'm happy he plays for the Avs, because I don't think he's good for any other team.

Was not Martinsen that guy who had a double hit last year? He hit two guys on one hit? He almost has 100 hits so far this year. #Toughness But hes big and hits hard. Should be interesting if he hits his Norwegian teammate Zuccarello....

LGR. Hoping for a solid team performance for once.

This is literally the worst team in the league.

Should probably win.

Yeah, would like to know if Gorton is on the road with them. Hope someone is at the game looking for him.

Yep, my bad. Nash was out there this morning. "Coming along," Vigneault said. Same lineup, Lundqvist in nets. #NYR

It's asine that AV is sitting clendening for girardi after the way he's been walked the last 2 games. And that doesn't count how bad he's been for awhile. I can't wait to see him against the speed of their forwards tonight. They may not be a good team but they do have some talent and speed that girardi can't handle. Still think we win by a couple, but if there was ever a game to put clendening in, it's tonight.

I'm really jealous of some of the naps Girardi has taken this season as another player is either turnstiling him or getting shots right in the slot while he does nothing.

I'm not laughing. I mean are they showcasing girardi? There is no good explanation! Girardi should be stretching and doing physical therapy continuously to start feeling better!

If Clendening put up Girardi's performance in the last handful of games, he would have been sent to the swamp rabbits after last night. I don't mind Girardi staying in. At least Skjei ain't coming out again. If it takes Girardi getting exposed playing 3rd pairing minutes with a mobile defense partner that Gorton covets regardless of Vigneault's usage and against some of the worst competition in the league, then so be it.

I can not believe Girardi is playing, after the last game it couldn't be more clear he deserves to watch a game or two or ten and rest up. He actually seems to be hurt again.

I'll be at the game tonight, excited but also kind of meh watching the Avs. Not being able to see Nash, Buch and Zib in person.

Inexcusable that Dan Girardi gets to play again tonight considering the way he's played he last couple games. Just absolutely absurd by this coaching staff. No accountability for anyone over the age of 24.
