perrault proposal

me and my brother came up with a way to get a big PF into our system. almost everybody wants to dump perrault from the roster so why not ship him to new jersey

to MTL: Aaron Voros
to NJ: Yannic Perrault

we get some desperate size and grit in the system to complemente all our skill while dumping perrault before he becomes a FA.

Thoughts?

(Edit: i had 2 r's in voros)

Perreault will bring nothing more than a pick IMO, he has played well with Zed and Saku of late...maybe some GM's may give BG a call for a faceoff specialist who can score, maybe we should hold on to him for depth and let him walk???

Some peoples forget he was first for points on the team before Claude Julien begin to bench him. Yeah he can scores but he is a liability in his own end. That's why Leafs & LA give up. I'd say, we should keep him for depth. But if a team offer a 2nd round pick or better, i would trade. I also think he is better than Dagenais and should play on the wing with ribeiro&ryder.

You mean a pick that will draft a 5`10 soft player from the Q?, Savard will not draft big mean forwards, he wouldn't do it in Ottawa either.

Perreault won't get you a 2nd.

Aaron Voros :
6`4 200, right wing, July 2, 1981

2001-2002 37 games, 18 goals, 12 assists, 30 points, 30/103 PIM, +19
Received Doug Desorcie Top Rookie Award ... named to CCHA All-Rookie Team

2002-2003 16 games, 2 goals, 5 assists, 7 points, 21/42 PIM, -10
Underwent surgery to remove bone tumor in leg on January 30 and out for rest of season. Found bone tumor early in season.

2003-2004 30 games, 13 goals, 6 assists, 19 points, 56/112 PIM, -10
Has been playing excellent hockey as of late after a slow start comming back from knee surgery to remove tumor.

Coach Gadowsky says ... "We didn't have one game last season with a healthy Aaron Voros and now we have a healthy Aaron Voros. He's a killer. Take any lineup and add Aaron Voros, and you have a new dimension of grit. At the very least, every defenseman on the ice will be aware of when he's on the ice ... Great to have him back. He put on some good, legitimate weight. If people in this league thought he was scary before, they are certainly going to think he is scary now.

How about we trade Perrault for this summer's UFA status?

Some quotes about his style:

"His style of play can be very effective. Often when he takes a penalty, he takes another player or two with him to the box. He can get under the skin of opposing players, especially goaltenders. It can be a tough line to find between being aggressive and taking unneeded penalties, but Voros needs to find that line. "

"NHL scouts say they like the physical way Voros plays. But right now he needs to adapt his game to the NCAA level. College hockey demands a cleaner contest than most professional and junior leagues. Voros is capable of mucking it up and being an effective player without being out of control. "

"Voros, on the other hand notes Gadowsky, is more like a grizzly bear getting loose in your log cabin. He uses his size to his advantage, he just goes in and crashes and bangs. There?s no sneaking around involved, you know he's coming but with his size there?s not a lot you can do about it, and if you get in his way he can hurt you.?

Well, I would certainly welcome Mr. Voros to the Habs organization, but I doubt that Lamoriello want to part with him for Perreault.

I do agree that Savard's blind spot seems to be the gritty Power Forward type (at least, since drafting Nolan over ten years ago). I just don't buy this BPA attitude. New Jersey consistently drafts well, and they have several intriguing PF prospects in their system: Pihlman, Tallackson, Nittel, Voros, Massen, Ryznar...

I am just a little sceptical about Savard and co.'s drafting, but then again, I am not a professional scout. I just find it hard to believe that there hasn't been an opportunity in the last two or three drafts to take a legitimate PF prospect, even with the BPA mindset.

Well NJ has so many PF's I would think they would be able to part with one of their players. I also would like to help Montreal out since they are one of my favorite teams (well behind NJ though)
