I don't like some of the things I'm reading in Russian publications("Grave condition"), lets hope the truth gets out soon and that its good news.

At the bottom of the blogspot is saying that, and someone was just asking if it can be confirmed or not.

Exactly, it's not like it's Jagr's fault, his heart must have been a ticking timebomb. Still, I feel horrible for Jagr because it's just human nature to feel guilty. Horrible story.

Will have to wait and see

That same blog is reporting that there are no defibrillators in any of the KHL arenas...and it went on to say that how Zholtok died in Riga, Latvia in 2004 during lockout, no defibrillator there either.

It's on TSN, so I don't think it's some reporter's idea of a joke sadly:

This feels unreal indeed. First, I also thought the selfish "oh man, first Blackburn, now this", then I realized how serious this whole matter is. Cherry can be dead right now.

Let's just hope that blog is incorrect.
Not true!

I'm no doctor but I have heard of people getting hit in the chest and then going into cardiac arrest soon after...and even dying.

If you guys recall, this happened to Pronger a few years back. He took a slapper to the chest and his heart stopped. His eyes rolled back into his head and he collapsed on the ice.

Nobody is questioning whether or not he collapsed or not....the question is his current condition.

That says NOTHING about him passing away...

People need to stop throwing garbage around until there is a reliable source on his condition - good or bad.

Its the same ****ing guy using the same language and words on all the blog comment spaces saying he died.

Relax a bit and wait for some real news.

I somehow doubt someone who's close to the family is gona run to the interwebs and start posting that someone just died.

According to comments on SportBox.ru it was Jagr's elbow. Jarg is Cherepanov's teammate. Apparently Jarg didn't see him. Afterwards Jagr was shouting "Wake up Alexei" and was in tears.

This is f-ing horrible....
Just popped over to your guys board to check in... and am stunned and saddened by this news.

It is just ghastly unlucky for the kid (who we all pray recovers), and so horribly random for Jagr. As described, those circumstances are simply cruel.

As a rival fan, I have enjoyed having fun at Jagr's expense while he was a Ranger, especially as he was your best player, but I have to admit I had tears welling in my eyes as I read through this thread (especially after the blog entrees that said Cherepanov had passed...)

All hockey fans stand as one for something like this. So we Devils fans are with you, wishing for something miraculous.

I've found plenty of links about his collapsing, but nothing on passing away.

How bout Jiri Fischer? Didn't he have something similar happening to him (a puck if I remember correctly)?

This is heartbreaking news, let alone the fact that it was a collision with Jagr that may have induced it. "Wake up Alexei", I don't want to imagine what Jagr feels.
