Havlat 2-hands Recchi's face

Just saw the clip on Spertsnet. Ugly. Recchi was following him into the boards, tugging at him a bit, and Havlat turns a chops at Mark's face. Viscious too. Hitchcock is calling for Havlat's head and Recchi says this sort of thing is expected from Havlat. Mark, as always, appeared very calm. Havlat got a misconduct for intent and I guarantee he'll face more. With his previous suspension for kicking Cairns [?] this one could be substantially longer. Should make for a good playoff matchup.

I saw the hit in a replay. I didn't even think he deserved the game. He got the guy with gloves more than anything else.

Really? I dunno. It looked pretty savage to me. Recchi wasn't bleeding though, but still. At least no one was hurt.

I think you mean to say "Havlat hooked by either or both of Recchi and Leclair from 16:44 to 16:37 until he finally two-hands Recchi in the face".

Overreaction? Sure. Hopefully both players will keep their effing sticks on the ice next time so we can watch some hockey.

Hooking happens a lot in every game in the NHL, if Havlat gets that upset over a hook, I'd hate to see what he'd do if someone 2-handed him in the face. After he's done crying ofcourse.

Precisely my thoughts. There is no excuse for Havlats cheapshot, but when you are running the show for 2 periods of hockey and the only way the other guys stop you is to do their best impression of a 2 man waterski then it becomes frustrating. Havlat should have kept moving and gone for the 4th drawn penalty of the night, but instead gave into frustration. Don't blame him, but clearly the wrong thing to do.

That said, it's hilarious how Havlat dances around Philly game in, game out. Hope the ensuing suspension won't cool him off, because he is hands down the Sens hottest player (counting any point during the year).

"I think he does" says Mr Cherry. Also, so does Recchi. Hitch said it "saved" him tonight.

Seems like the same kinda hit ol' Dougy Weight laid on H.Sedin, sept Recchi didn't get cut. Four games? Plus?

Is Havlat really known for this sort of thing as the Philly people say? I dont recall any incidents like this from him.

Yes, I think his actual quote was, "Someday someone's going to make him eat lunch...just not my lunch. If that little puke goes NEAR MY LUNCH....!!"

Very much so. I Can't recall. How heavy was Weight's suspension?

Last year in the playoffs Havlat was careless with his stick and cut a few Flyers. I think Hitch was just trying to get the Flyers fired up, personally.

But, Havlat is a dirty player on many occasions, which I don't really have a problem with, it just makes the game more intense and exciting (similar to stuff Lemieux and Forsberg do.) I just wish he'd pull this kind of stuff against the Leafs and Devils and not the Flyers. :p

It was fairly rediculous, and clearly intended, whether that high or not. He should get a game or so, since it wasnt a clean shot at him. The game cant have things like this happening, its a bad thing for the image of the game. Glad someone brought up the Weight slash, since this cant be said to be done because hes a visor wearing euro. Stupid act, but not location oriented reaction

the actual incident was disgusting
i like havlat and the sens and i think it was just plain disgusting and doenst belong in the game.. but in my very much sleep deprived state, the only thing im more than likely going to remember is hitch saying "someone is going to make him eat lunch" or whatever.. i mean.. seriously.. who the hell says that?! is there a precedence to some derivative of the saying "im going to make you eat your lunch" ?! maybe a punk added to it? or some swear words? is it from a movie? all i could think of was my mom telling me to eat my food when i was a kid.. (i was a picky eater).. ive already been told im "behind in the times" when it comes to "new slang" and all that by my bro and i was very much tempted to call him and ask him about it but he does have school in the morn so i thought the better of it.. if this happened saturday night i would have tho but seriously.. someone who's heard this or this kinda statement before let me know.. i really am curious as to its origins

hehe, yes I've heard it many times before. It comes from the time when people would also say, "You want a knuckle sandwich?" - notice the food motif here. A lot of ex-goons from that era are overweight due to the lasting psychological effects of all their 'fight talk'
