no need to freak out its early, but its never to early to call it how you see it and make necessary changes.

Yeah, but at some point we have to win.

Its very possible we can lose the next few games.

I don't know, that 13 goal man vs. the 40 goal man...tough call. Umberger was really good at driving hard on his off wing and flipping crappy backhanders into the goalie's chest?

People don't really think playoff Umberger was the real Umberger, do they?

Im an all Philly fan and I identify more with the Flyers because they fight, they never give up. With Richards as captain it only makes me believe more. Please, my loyal Flyers faithful, dont turn into Eagles fans. Coach firings and trades are not what we need. We have what we need minus a little luck and some D instruction. This team will find its self shortly.

Its painfully obvious what happens when you play hockey without a system, without an extremely hot goaltender, when you aren't able to bury every opportunity, and the bounces aren't going your way.

Most of us saw it last year. The team was winning on talent alone and in spite of their coach and supposed system. When your goaltender stands on his head, and you are opportunistic enough to put away almost all of your great chances to score, you're going to win regardless. The point of the coach and the system is to mitigate those ups and downs in the season and squeek out some points when things aren't bouncing your way, or your players aren't red hot.

This team doesn't have that fall back. If this team played even some basic systematic defensive hockey, they would have a couple more points, and we wouldn't be talking about major changes right now.

I know everyone is hating on the defense, and it does suck, but our team is still plenty good to get wins in spite of it. Stevens should have been fired a long time ago, unfortunately a gutsy ending to our season had us set back our window of being an elite team at least a year.

Fire Stevens.

They have too much talent to miss the playoffs. Changes need to be made if they're going to do anything once they get there.

This isn't all Stevens fault, as there's a lot of veteran journeyman fringe-NHL trash on this team, but....

in Stevens' short tenure, he has piloted the two longest losing streaks in team history, plus one of only three four-game losing streaks to start the season in team history.

Just sayin'.

Pretty much exactly what i was thinking. RJ's an OK player but thinking he would be a difference on this team is laughable

In fairness, if this was the middle of the season, we wouldnt be this upset. i think its dumb to panic too early b/c you run the risk of ruining the team. Just my two cents

BTW, shouldn't they know by now that a pre-season trip to West Point is not a good idea...

Um... no, there isn't. Theres pretty much one player on the entire roster you can say that about, and he's a pretty good player. Talent is not an issue with this team. Team makeup, maybe. But you came to the easy and obvious answer below, so i won't steal your thunder.

Wrong, Stevens piloted the THREE longest losing streaks in team history. The Flyers had never lost 10 in a row until 2006

well, look at it this way. There's no way the Flyers would win the lottery so even if we finished last (which better not ****ing happen), we won't have to make the tough decsion. It'll already be made for us.

What in the **** has happened to this team?? I only caught the last half of the game, and it dawned on me I haven't yelled at the TV that loudly in a while (probably 06-07 season). Power play? Ummmmmm... no. Penalty kill? Ummmmmmm... no. Goalie who can at least keep the team in the game a little bit? Ummmmmmm... no.

It just looked like they haven't been able to keep the puck on their sticks at all so far this season. (It seems like) Every pass they attempt either bounces over or off the the intended recipient's stick, or ends up sticking like glue to an opponent's stick.

When was the last time a team went from worst in the league one season; to the conf. finals the following season, and back to worst in the league the next?

I disagree. The defense isn't good enough to win a cup. They have a good 1st pair and plenty of 3rd pair dmen, but the middle pair is nonexistant. That's a problem at any time of the season. The same goes for the forwards. The top line is great and the 4th does what it's supposed to. 2nd and 3rd lines need to be shaken up. I have to give them credit for at least attempting to do something by putting Lupul at center. And none of that mentions the coaching and how they don't play like a cohesive team.

They have too much talent to start the season 0-3-1, and potentially 0-7-1. But, it's happening and it might get worse.

A week ago, I agreed. Too much talent to miss the playoffs. Now I'm not so sure.

We obviously need Sami Kapanen back. Obviously

Seriously though, were 4 games into the season, sure we could use some changes but this is nothing to have a heart attack over.
