Good move. He has 9 PIMs already. Unfortunately, unless you're in an AHL league, they aren't doing you much good

He was sent down on the eve of the season. Keep in mind, they added Schneider late, so that probably forced them to send Valabik down. He'll be up sooner rather than later, though I would think. Anderson coached him in Chicago.

I don't see him coming up, unless there are some injuries.

I know he is a winger, but you might want to take a chance with Mike Hoffman. He is injured right now, but should be the Thrashers #1 enforcer when he returns to the lineup.

Barring injuries, trades or Bogosian returning to junior, Valabik wont be in the NHL this season.

Or if Oystrick starts looking bad for extended stretches.

Bring Valabik up now. Shameful to see a team get blown out 7-0 and not a single fight.

I'm not sold on Boris ever panning out at the NHL level. it just seems like there are way too many questions about his abilities. From where I'm standing, Boris stays in Chicago and Mike Hoffman is the enforcer.

Boulton tried to fight several people (including Cote), but nobody was willing to go... so instead of Brashearing someone he just let it go since the game was out of hand anyway. Seems more mature than shameful to me.

I agree with the post above in reference to this post.

Why in the world would a Flyers skater fight us when their up 7-0, they had nothing to gain and a lot to lose...

Valabik and Chara comparison

I looked at the stats and was very surprised at how low Chara's stats were wen he first enterd the NHL. They reminded me of Valabik's goonish stats with high PIM's and low point totals. As everyone knows when Chara was traded to Ottawa and had grown into hi body his point totals took a huge jump and now he is an elite two way defenceman. Can the same thing happen with Valabik?

While that is certainly what us Thrashers fans are hoping, I think those kind of expectations are bit much. I doubt he'll be a whole lot more than a terrifyingly large/mean shutdown defenseman, but ATL needs one of those guys, so woo!! Boris is a guy that will continue to improve as he gets to play more and learn from his (many) mistakes. What's sad is that I already trust him more than I have Exelby for the last 1.5 seasons.

Very doubtful. I think the Valabik/Chara comparisons are ridiculously superficial. They're both big and Slovak - that's about it. Valabik compares more favorably with someone like Derian Hatcher. If he can turn out like Hatcher did in his prime, he will have been a very good pick.

I think it's too early to tell whether or not Valabik will be like Chara. But it's also something to look at when you're talking about errors Valabik has made. Chara made many of the same errors, before he came into his own in Ottawa.

Unless some of you can see the future with a clarity that rivals Nostradamus, no one can really say what Valabik will be like. However, all of us can (and should) admit that he looks a hell of a lot better now than he did at this time last year. I'm impressed with his development so far this year, despite his shortcomings.

Same here, he has shown flashes of brilliance. He can make some big mistakes in his own zone as well though.
