In no way will firing Savard change the fact that neither Huet nor Khab are legitimate no. 1 goalies. These signings are upper management's responsibility. And, unfortunately, the Hawks will pay dearly for those mistakes for years to come.

I agree Huet is not a #1 but Khabibulin is a proven #1!

The Huet mistake will hurt us for years to come but Khabby's contract expires at end of year so i dont get how he will hurt us!

And the Campbell signing is proving to be a good one. Its Dale's only UFA signing that appears to be good.

I'm absolutely freaking livid with the Blackhawks front office for firing a coach that was finding his stride to bring in a coach that has never done a damn thing.
I'm thoroughly convinced there's a full on gas leak in the whole front office.

Don't know what's worse:

Firing Savard or making Joel Q new head coach and not 06-07 AHL Coach of the Year Mike Haviland.

Blackhawks fans:

Rather than launch an anit-Q tirade I will offer this important bite for you.

Q well help a weak or mediocre team overachieve while the flipside to the coin is that he will cause a great team to underachieve. He did both in Colorado (underachieved with a healthy lineup and overachieved when injuries stacked up) and underachieved in St. Louis with some stacked teams.

So whether you should be happy or not all depends on where you think your team is.

I think the real reason is the Hawks just like to hold press conferences's.....Seriously though I can see why they made the move, and because of Coach Q's brush with the law I can see why they had to wait. Stumbling out of the block provides a good excuse as well. As far as all the predictions I made prior to the season starting, now I have no idea what to predict. I don't know what Quenville wants to see from this team.

I'm gonna miss Savvy though, hope the Hawks still "commit to the indian"!

As I mentioned in the Bergevin thread none of this adds up. There has to be some other reason for firing Savard at this point in the season which the organization is not disclosing.

According to management, Savard was fired for lack of experience....and the next day they bring in Bergevin as an assistant coach.....who has zero coaching experience??

Since when has mediocrity ever kept a guys job. That sounds more like the "old" Blackhawks regime to me. He just wasn't that good a coach. Period. People keep confusing Savard the great hockey player with Savard the in over his head coach.
Tallons next and were off and running.

Yes, it was.

He said Savard was a friend. He must have been more than "just a friend". Kane's taking this hard.

Yeah that was Kane. He's just a young guy. Give him a break. He's emotional. There are a lot of other players who could stand to be, at least a little more, emotional. I think it's a beautiful thing.
