Trading Malkin makes so much sense and I suggested it even before July 1. Pittsburgh's offense is obviously struggling mightily and it's because they're lacking quailty wingers. Wopp-dee-doo you have the best 1-2 punch at center but who's playing with them? Fedotenko? Satan? Dupuis??

I know Crosby and Malkin are elite players but even they wont succeed as much with such a lack of solid wingers. The Penguins could have acquired a bounty for Malkin in the offseason, likely including a 1st round pick which they really need also. I don't see much promising young talent in the Penguins system anymore. Unfortunately, Shero and the entire Penguins fanbase is way to stubborn to think about giving him up.
It doesn't take a homer to notice your lack of knowledge regarding the Pens. You conveniently left out Sykora who is obviously the Pens best winger. Prospects are much leaner than previous years, of course, most of the higher end players have graduated already. The Pens may not have any blue chip prospects to speak of, but there is a good amount of quality prospects that could definitely fill future needs.

Satan and Fedotenko have played 4 regular season games so far. It's not a new revelation that Fedotenko does not belong on the top two lines. Satan, even if he is on the decline, is still a top 6 winger. Why do we really NEED a 1st round pick? Rebuilding so soon? Come on.

It is not stubbornness to not HAVE to trade away a premiere player like Malkin when we are not that far away from a more ideal situation on the wings. There are less costly and smarter options to fill the gaps. I'll put faith in Shero not dealing away Malkin this off-season for a bounty, seemingly ignoring your one of a kind suggestion made prior to July 1st.

Also, if we're needing a winger, I'd much rather move Staal for one. And I'm not even real keen on that idea.
Exactly and that's what i'm hoping for. Staal to me is better off elsewhere. He is not going to be a solid winger, he's a center and the quicker Shero and Therrien realize that, the quicker the pens get the wing situation a little help.

A team would have to give up so much just to equal the trade value that it almost wouldnt be worth it for them. I'm not so sure Staal is ready to be the second center anyways.

you know this really isn't the worst idea ever. having both crosby and malkin's large contracts really hampers keeping some of their better young players when they are due for new contracts. if the right deal was there i would take it. that being said there really aren't too many wingers that i would trade for malkin. some obvious one are gaborik, heatley, kovalchuk, semin, iginla. anyways any deal involving these players would also have to include others so the likely hood of a trade centered around malkin right now is not very likely. plus i don't think the players i mentioned above or their teams are looking to trade them.

if a team is rebuilding and they add Malkin they arn't in a rebuild anymore this is a kid how can lead a team to the win column

man, i need the number of your dealer,
keep your Malkin, we never let Brown, Doughty and Boyle leave ...

Please ask another team for doing your rebuilding.

the only one i would offer for a cap hit like that is Handzus + Armstrong, but that will never happen.
So, the Kings are a bad trade partner....

By the way..... Elite Defender >>>>>>>>>>> elite attacker...
so, if you ask for Doughty it's Malkin +

It'd probably take like Kovalchuk and Enstrom to deal Malkin to an in-conference team.

Before an ATL fan comes in here and calls me crazy, remember I'm not the one that started this thread.

We dont give that much up but pens would want a crapload
More like
Malkin
for
Handzus, Brown, Boyle, Purcell or Moller, 3rd rounder
probably better but still that may be a bit much

What do Pens fans think it would take for kings to get Geno

Let's trade the second best center in hockey who's locked up for 6 more years!

Yay!

well if you don't want to hear about it good for you, but I'm sure your GM would consider a trade if its to make his team better.
Trading Malkin doesn't make this team better. It only makes 1 line better.

Brown and Johnson/Doughty would be starting points.

Yes...a defender that has played exactly what...5 games in the league...is more valuable than a player who finished 2nd in scoring, 2nd in MVP voting, ROY, and is regarded as one of the top 5 players in the league.

I don't say this ever on HF, but...

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in all my time on HF, and I'm very confident it will never be topped.

pens have 2 of the top 3 young players in the game. it would be retarded to trade one of them.

You forget to take your medicine today?

Doughty isn't an elite defender yet... he's just a prospect, albeit a damn good one but he shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Malkin. And don't get me started on the Malkin + for Doughty...
