If I could have only one wish, it would be to end the goaltending controversy once and for all. Heck, if we had the right guy, we could even sign him for 15 years and I'd be fine with it.
There are only a handful of marquis goaltenders in the league and they don't come by quite easily (if you had Luongo as your goaltender, why would you let him go?) but someday, I hope we find the right one.
Problem is, next season, do we give Elliott a chance and miss out on a possible big name signing? Do we bring up Elliott earlier and see if he can manage (in January)?
Unless he has a spectacular season, I don't see us keeping Gerber. This is probably be why we'll have Elliott aboard before we know it.
That is what I would expect Murray to do. Not quite sure how it would work with us already carrying Auld and Gerber, but I'm sure Murray would make it fit.
I don't think we'll go into next season hoping to have a starting goalie in Elliott. This team isn't built for that.
