would i love to draft tavares or hedman? hell yes. would i tank the season for them? hell no. if the flyers are that awful, that's one thing. but tanking is never acceptable.

if we come in last again it means we have a problem the young talent on our team. Carter and Richards are both 25 now...not 18.

I voted maybe. I know I would not want to trade any of our top prospects or key players.

Upshall and maybe Hartnell I would be willing to trade for a d-men.

I di dnot inlude Knuble because I do not think anyone would want him.

**** no, we've already done that once. And we still haven't reaped the benefits from that draft.

No, can't go through that crappy season again. We have to pull out of this slump.

Hell no I wouldn't be satisfied with basically tanking a season for either Taveres or Hedman. If we are THAT bad again with THIS team then we have some serious personel issues and more than 50% of this team would have to be changed. These guys dont get a pass for being young and improving like they did 2 years ago. If we suck THAT bad that we get either the #1 or #2 pick again this year then our goalies suck, our defense sucks, AND our forwards suck and serious changes would need to be made.

My son is a Pens fan and he was so pissed off when they banished any real player with any talent (besides owner/player Mario) and basically iced their AHL W/S Pens team. Trust me, they made damn certain they lost and for a number of year. They didn't go out and sign any FA, they didn't even try.

Very high draft pick > playoffs (and winning the Cup) aka welcome to the world of HFBoards.

BTW, I clicked on the thread and expected to wind up on the Islanders board.

Your team is a lock for the playoffs (after you fire Stevens.)

Agreed

although if it guarenteed us a couple of championships, which it does not, then I would defeinitely consider it

Another thing. What kind of return could we get for the #1 overall pick this year?? A couples of 1st's and 2nd's, a couple prospectys and some proven players

that would be sweet although I would want oen of the other 2 probally

There's a difference between tanking and burning it down and starting over. What the Pens did to get those picks was essentially the same thing you've seen the Marlins do a couple times, and it's a perfectly good strategy. Tanking is IN SEASON purposefully trying not to win games. Those teams were trying, they just had little to no real talent.

They tanked to get Lemieux.

And Crosby was after the lockout, so there was nothing but dumb luck in him ending up in Pitt.

They had to banish player with talent because they were a bad team who couldn't afford any decent talent.

They traded up fr Fleury (only two picks, but still traded for him).

I'm sure they tanked for Malkin since that was Ovechkin's draft. They were a bad team who couldn't draw flies (couldn't sell out in the 2001 playoffs either). Jagr also wanted to be traded, it wasn't like he was pawned off for cash, they just made a bad trade.

Crosby was a 30-team lottery. It was pretty hard to tank during the lockout.

They're both currently 23. Doesn't make it better, but they aren't rookies anymore, however, the team is just more than those two players. You can't build a team if you keep trading away your young players, especially if they are a franchise player like Richards. Normally if a team is horrible for more than 1 season, the problem lies in other players than just the players.

I like to see my team win, personally. 06-07 was so painful.

And not to take anything away from JVR, but I wish the 07 draft was this good.

Maybe not, but cash had a LOT to do with what was going on there, and Kovalev absolutely was pawned off for cash.
