GDT: Big Bro Edition: Preds @ Jackets 10-16-08

Wow. 2:34pm and no GDT yet.

You know the drill. Preds have dominated the Jackets recently. Hitch wants to stand up to big brother.

It's a new season and anything can happen.

Rinne is scheduled to get his first start of the season and tonight we see the debut of top Jackets prospect Filatov.

No, unlike the Jackets, the Predators are capable of providing their fans with an official message board right on their team site

Pekka has to have that one.. Weak, weak weak goal, especially given Rinne's size.

I can't fault him for the final two goals. Still, he had to be pulled. Hamhuis can't backpedal like a schoolboy facing a bully in front of the net (see goal 3), and DeVries is going to have to learn to pay attention in the defensive zone (see goal 2).......

Well, we shouldn't have a chance with the way we have played, but down 2....the Predators are still in this game. They need a powerplay goal to have a chance IMO.

They may be in it scorewise, but the way they are playing they aren't in it.

Out hit, out worked. You'd think with a team full of fourth liners we'd least show some type of effort or guts.

3-4 with Dumont putting it in past a shaky Leclaire. Even with 3 straight goals, the Jackets are flying. Finding a way to get a win here would be astounding.

Hornqvist looks to be a very good player when he finally "gets it", you know? That switch will flip one day soon and you'll have yourselves a player.

Pekka's gonna be a great goalie, tough baptism by fire tonight in Columbus on JHM night. There was no way Nash was going to let McConnel's night end in a loss.

c u boys tomorrow night.

We will see tomorrow when we are in your rink and see if the CBJ's can keep up the roll we got tonight.

How do they come out like that? I don't care that CBJ was having a special night, there is no excuse for not even showing up in the first period. And 3 games in a row that we have allowed a goal less than 30 seconds into the second period.

Does David Legwand still play for the Preds? I know he was given a nice big contract but I haven't seen him for 5 games now so I thought maybe it was a sign and trade deal that I missed or something. (You know it's bad when I complain about Legwand!)

I thought we were supposed to have some great defense? I also thought we were supposed to have a good PK? Because both are kind of sucky right now.

And another game another rookie gets his first NHL goal. What rookie can columbus recall for tomorrow?

These players are still without a point now: Legwand, Hamhuis, Fiddler, Koistinen (but he only played 2 gms).

NMK retired. Smokey is in Florida, but he still comes in and posts....just not as much as he used to.

As for the game - I liked Jones and Hornqvist getting more time. I thought Rinne was given a raw deal after giving up the initial weak goal. In this game, to be blunt, Hamhuis, Zanon, DeVries, and Klein made way to many mistakes.......and it cost us big time. Suter took an unfortunate penalty late, but it from my eyes (and many Blue Jacket fans eyes on their board) it was a weak/poor call.

Still, give it to the Jackets. They made their breaks, and they outplayed us significantly.
