Any Yotes fans have an opinion on where Long will end up next year? He puts up alot of points but just doesn't seem to have the grit required to be an effective Pro. Can we expect him back in Kelowna? Or will AHL be calling..?

Not too many overage players in Junior hockey ever progress to the NHL. I would like to see him signed ands spend 2 years in San Antonio.

I figure some may be interested in this...

I got bored and went through all the video I had to find the very best, and now present my 2008-09 WHL Plays of the Year.

Find out where Long ranks.

Stone named second team Eastern Conference allstar behind team mate Postma and Keith Aulie.

http://www.whl.ca/whl-announces-2008...alists-p127905

Impressive for an 18 year old defenceman. Next year will be a very important year for Stone.

Colin Long is also named in the Western Conference.

I just noticed Chris "The Tank" Frank was signed to the Rampage for the rest of the season. I was wondering what was gonna happen to this guy, might as well dress him in SA and see what happens.

wondering if anybody else might think that the Coyotes should try to pursue free agent senior Christian Hanson after the NCAA's???

Notre Dame is #1 in their region

and I'm thinking he may become a good gritty LW with a defensive upside...

Just watched the game. So insane. Michigan DOMINATED and were still shut out. That Air Force goaltender was just unbelievably hot. I'm pretty sure Michigan ended up out shooting Air Force four to one. 48-12.

I'd like to see him play an NHL game, or two, this season, honestly. Sit Hale and Kalinin. Both guys suck ass, and hopefully neither will be back, next season. Let's see what Summers can do. His skating, decision making, and passing ability, I think would at the very least keep him from embarassing himself. He could open some eyes, even.

The team would have to burn a year on his 3-year entry contract to do that. Can't see that happening.

Probably just like Porter & Kolarik last year--sign him to the NHL next season and AHL to end this season.

Not if he plays nine games or fewer, right? If Yandle can't play every night, I can't imagine Summers would.

The rule that allows teams to extend rookie contracts a year only applies to players that sign at the age of 18 or 19. Summers is 21.

The same situation applied to Porter and Kolarik last year, but Turris at age 19 could be extended. Porter and Kolarik got AHL contracts for the playoffs and Turris got a few NHL games with the club.

Would this explain the Chris Frank contract?

Maxim Goncharov has been called again to the Russian national team for a couple of control matches they'll play in Austria in April 8th and 10th.

Does PHX own the rights of Petr Schastlivy? I didn't think so but the link stated he was property of PHX.

Wrong thread...but not that I'm aware of. Dude is like 30 something. He should be a free agent.

Not sure why my question is in the wrong thread when I'm specifically referring to the linked article above (http://russianprospects.com/public/a...article id=638) that not only mentions Goncharov but also Petr Schastlivy as being property of PHX and are being invited to the 2 "test matches." Guess I just misunderstood the thread title: 08-09: Junior, College, & Euro Prospects Update Thread. Thanks for trying to clear it up though.

My apologies...I didn't see it at first. To my knowledge, he's never been property of the Coyotes. If for any reason his rights are retained by any club, I would think it would be Anaheim.

Well, he was drafted by Ottawa, not Phoenix.

He last played in Anaheim after being traded there. He will be 30 in a April. The Phoenix property designation must be a mistake.

Sorta the same. Frank signed an AHL contract with SA, just like Porter and Kolarik did last spring.

The difference is Porter and Kolarik also signed separate NHL contracts to take effect in 08-09. Frank doesn't have an NHL contract.

Essentially a try-out for Frank. Since Frank is a college player I believe the Yotes have until August to sign him to an NHL deal or he'll be an NHL free agent. Haven't seen a report if Frank's AHL contract is for longer than this season. Wonder if Jeff knows that?

Frank signed an ATO with SA so I doubt it runs beyond this season.
