if you can get all three for 17million you can keep all three

6 for kovalev
6 for Tang
5 for Koivu...

it works under the cap if you can keep Komi for 5 too.

There are no Kovalev haters, no one is moving him in trade and saying they don't want him back

What most people are doing is pointing out why they would choose Tangs over Kovalev (most ppl are citing his Tang's youth)

Do you deny that it can be perceived as an advantage? You are simply being too sensitive about a player. It is as if you feel that the players Salary dictates his true worth. That isn't always the case, and smart players who want to win together take paycuts to stay on good teams

Most want Kovalev back, is it really that bad if we want him back at no more then 4 Million (some of us...well mostly me)? Aren't you a fan of the Montreal Canadiens? wouldn't you rather we keep all of our players at Bargain prices?

How are you a Kovalev hater for those reasons?

P.S. The Bandwagon is full, the idea of a Bandwagon being full is also not possible. If your a Habs fan you have a lifetime priority pass on any current Habs player's Bandwagon the way I see it.

p.p.s. ever heard of expansion?

I went with Tanguay based solely on age. However, I cannot imagine this team without Kovy.

Can'T imagine this team without Kovalev, and my heart tells me he's gonna accept to stay here for the same salary, maybe a little less... i hope

But only in Montreal can you see this kind of thread 4 games into the season

voted tangs based on age, plus hes french ;-) j/k but seriously if you look at long term hes your best choice, and even short term he could be your best choice, a more reliable and consistent player, does not have the gamebreaker tag that kovy has, but either way we should be able to squeeze everyone in as long as no one gets redic offers (CBJ offers Tangs 10m x 23 yrs)

For all you guys that would prefer Tanguay, what about the PP? The powerplay would be greatly affected by Kovalev leaving; Tanguay, not so much.

He will be less expensive. You cut your own hair, that's cheap.

I'd rather we be lighting it up ES and improving our PK IMO

As Carbs said, we have had the number 1 PP for the last 2 years so other teams are preparing for that and working staying more disciplined etc...

We would have a middle of the pack powerplay without Kovalev. BTW, Kovalev is one of our best PKers as well.

no one is hating no one in here .. most people are going with tanguay because of his age. i dont think BG will let koivu walk just to sign tanguay and kovy.. hes going to try sign all 3 plus komi..
it would be great if we can sign all including komi which makes our team better.

middle of the pack would be fine if we had a top 5 PK, not saying thats just gonna magically happen, but I think Kovalev is a bit overrated since last season

I don't think Kovy is one of best PKers, not this year at least, maybe last year

There is no way Latendresse only gets $1.5 if he stays on the Koivu line all year.

no way halak gets trade that fast... no way tanguay takes 5.5 if he puts up 70-90 points and lats wont get 1.5 if hes putting up points like this... and why change the line if its working fine for now?
and koivu for 3M? funny how some people only see saku as a 3rd liner that they better have tanguay as a second line center !!!

We should stay focussed on the current year and appreciate it every games.. We have a team going for the Stanley cup, no need to start controversy at this point IMO.. Next year is next year and I trust in Bob to make the right decisions..

Some of you guys are dreaming with the contracts you're throwing around. I mean, Koivu for 3M dollars? He'd be making less money than Michael Ryder and Jeff Finger! I know he's old, but that's reflected in the length of the contract; maybe 2 or 3 years. But if he still manages to put up a respectable amount of points (and with what he's shown in the past few games, I'm sure he will), he'll get at least as much as his current salary. It's not a question of greed, it's about getting a fair salary for his contribution to the team; 3M is just laughable.

No one is stirring up controvosery, we are having a freaking discussion. Isn't that what this board is for? To discuss our hockey team?

If the Habs wins the Cup there is a very good chance there won't be any players left. Tanguay, Koivu, Kovy, Lats will ask for a raise, Lang will ask to keep his salary the same. Komi will get a efty raise too. Now imagine Gaborik coming in with his 8 Million +.

Bah... so far Tanguay has been better on the PP. Okay, it's not a lot, but your argument is based on the same timeline. And he's pretty good on the PK.

Ideally, I'd keep them both. But if it comes down to one or the other, Tanguay.

What do you mean based on the same time line?
Kovy has been the center piece of the pp for the last 2 years, and for those 2 years we have had the best pp in the whole league, by far. Kovalev really wants to stay here as well.

I honestly believe that Koivu will retire if they win the Stanley Cup. Pure speculation on my part but just a gut feeling I guess.
